I know that the factory navigation uses Garmin software. Does anyone know if you can update the system with available standard map software/updates from Garmin. This would mean that i can buy European map software and use the factory system over here.

All I know is that it's updated via DVD. Perhaps get the model number from the system settings and go from there.

I didn't think it's Garmin, though... It looks nothing like a Garmin. Chrysler uses Garmin and looks just like it and even says, "Powered by Garmin" or whatever.

Good luck!

Good luck. I'm far from an expert on how navigation stuff works, but from what I've seen they love to spend a tremendous amount of effort on locking down their precious map data and very little effort on ensuring that customers are serviced.

This of course has absolutely no effect on piracy, and every effect on legitimate customers.

Doesn't the Ford Mysync update it with the USB patches?
I'll be at the dealer next week and will ask - there's lots of roads out here I use frequently that arent in the computer database.

Actually, if you register at Mysync (or whatever it is), you will get email alerts when an update is available.

If there IS an update available (as of right now, no updates are available for MY11 Raptors) you can download to your USB thumbdrive and load directly to your truck via SYNC.

Simple.
