The factory window glazing on the front side windows is the legal limit. Adding anything to that will put you over the legal limit in Pennsylvania. To prove that tho the police need to utilize a tint meter. If it’s really dark tint all they have to do is testify that they could not see into the front passenger compartment from a reasonable distance.

Because I was curious and had some time to kill while....sitting in the bathroom stall...I looked up Texas code on this. Basically, if more than 50% of the LEDs are lit, it's red,, not broken and shoddy, and you can see it from 1000 feet away, you're good. And I would argue that no cop or vehicle inspector is going to check from a 1000 feet away.

Good to know. I would still be concerned. If someone rear ends you and then cries “I didn’t see any brake lights” ( yeah, because your nose was buried in your cell phone ) at a minimum it’s going to complicate the insurance claim process. That’s heartache I don’t want. And at the scene of a crash, they won’t be a thousand feet away, they’ll be 10 feet away or closer and thinking to themselves “hmm... how will anyone see those brake lights”.

Windows are violations as well, you can only have it as dark as 70% which is basically clear.. I remember one time they setup a no **** tint trap on one of the major roadways through Exton and I got pulled aside along with several other's and they just handed out tickets for anyone driving by with tint.
What a chicken s h I t thing to do!

My neighbor rear ended a truck with tinted brake lights. He was found not at fault and the driver of the truck was charged. Note this is in Texas, he had all on a dash cam and the police noted the tint.
