Bent it sounds like you've been manhandled by a dealership or two. Dan and Mark are correct; a dealership simply cannot deny your claim because of an unrelated mod, regardless of what that mod is. Insurance claims, on the other hand... Now that's a very different topic and probably one that applies here since part of the "safety" features of the truck MAY have been modified. But to deny your warranty claim for, say, a transmission repair or delaminated shifter knob by reason of a trimmed frame horn? Can't legally happen.

Looks great -- a lot like the Raptor R front bumper. Jake, would you open the hood and get a shot of the area in front of the radiator? I'm interested to see if there's any room left for a compressor, etc.

The more I look at this bumper, the more I like it. Too bad Ford didn't do this from the factory!! But there are a couple of things I would like to see:
1. Provisions for tow hooks where the bumper ties into the frame
2. A setup for LED lights (I know this would be a cinch)
3. Someway to revert back to stock if need be (would be tough...)

Thoughts?

Chopping up the frame could be considered misuse of the vehicle. Remember that warranties are largely a grey area and open to interpretation by Ford and the dealer.

Actually, I don't believe this is true. (the "open to interpretation" part at least)

The dealer and/or the manufacturer have to respond in writing with specific valid reasons as to why a modification and/or use of a non-factory part caused a failure of the warrantied part.

Most people just listen to what they're told and don't know their rights.

There is a very good chance that if you ask calmly and politely for the reasons for any denial of warranty coverage in writing, which is the law and your right, it is not very likely the manufacturer will deny a claim for the failure of your transmission because you installed an aftermarket bumper... unless they can in fact prove the bumper caused the trans to fail!

The problem is some dealers will tell you "no warranty" and most people don't ask for the specific reasons for the warranty rejection in writing.

It's been a few years since I was active in the automotive aftermarket industry, but SEMA used to have some good information on this topic.

Kaiser, yeah there are no tow hook provisions, but im sure SDHQ can build you whatever you want! and i know they plan to make a more production made-to-order style bumper that will bolt on and easily go back to stock. and leds is just a matter of mounting. talk to them when the time comes, they have wonderful fabricators.

1. The entire front bumper is a tow hook. That is if SDHQ built it right
2. All you have to do is weld tabs onto the bumper. Take no more than 5 minutes
