Over on the vette forum, the LS3 guys routinely convince themselves there is no difference between a C6 and a Z06 too.....:mwah1:

Heres my dyne pull. It tops out at 5500 due to the speed limiter. Every sharp drop in power is a shift point. Numbers aren't true since the pull was in 3rd gear and needed to be done in 4th.

Sorry for crappy quality

What are the numbers, can't tell on my iPhone, to blurry.

5.4 bore 3.55" stroke 4.16"
6.2 bore 4.015" stroke 3.74"

That's a whole lotta stroke on that 5.4L.
No doubt it would pull hard on the low end.

Does anyone know the origin of the 6.2L, i.e., is it based on a block from another Ford motor, or is it a new block altogether?

I haven't even got my Raptor and I'm thinking a 6.2L based stroker.

I didn't say there wasn't a difference, in fact if you read my first post I said there was. The point is that people who turn their noses up at the 5.4L or call it a "boat anchor" clearly have never driven both model of Raptor.

I have a 2010 Expedition Limited with the 5.4, it weighs in around 5,700lbs

I also have a 2010 Raptor with the 6.2, it weighs in around 6,000lbs

There is a BIG difference in power stock for stock so I'm not sure what is wrong with the 6.2's you guys are driving. I'm not knocking the 5.4 at all, I am saying that I can absolutely feel that the truck has 100 more hp.

Also agree that the Ford transmissions suck my ass. My dads silverado HD has a much better shift strategy.

Lets not forget that the Raptor 6.2L has a more aggressive cam in it so my guess is that the bottom end took a hit and why its so lively above 3k. This also would be a reason for them to not release torque curves... ESPECIALLY with the table top thrown up by the EBoost...

I'll chime in hear as unbiased as possible because I don't even own a Raptor. I've driven 3.7L, 5.0L, EB, and 6.2L as well as the original 5.4L. Back in 2010, I almost traded my Titan in on a lifted Platinum with the 5.4L (6" Procomp, 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers). Sexy looking truck but couldn't get out of it's own way. However, with the extra weight and drag I feel as though it's comparable to the 6.2L Raptor that I had the pleasure of driving. In my eyes, it was night and day. Mind you, these were both brand new trucks with <100 miles on them so I feel as though they are comparable in that too. So in my eyes, the 6.2L is a clear winner.

As for the the 5.4L vs. 5.0L debate, having driven stock F-150s with both motors, the winner is the 5.0L. It just seemed to have more pull and a lot more fun to drive. Winner is 5.0L.

Ecoboost vs. 6.2L...I didn't notice a difference in power. I guess, winner is the EB because of better MPG's.

And for what it's worth, the new 3.7L is no slouch. I mean, yes, when you're romping on it, it gets up their high in the RPM range and sounds a little ricey for my taste. But it's got the power for daily driving and averages 25mpg (that's what my grandfather gets in his '11 XLT 3.7L).

So those are my 2 cents...hope I could shed some more light on the subject.
