If you have ever used the suction cup you know that it not going to just fall off. That thing is practically welded on

That is all I have used to date. It is pretty amazing. I remember thinking "yeah right" the first time I mounted it. But I think the hood or windshield would come off the truck before the camera.

All the mounts go pro makes are legit.

one of the most popular camera angles is against the back wall of the cab so you can see the occupants head and steering wheel.

desert racers mount a few and that shot i enjoy the most (when its combined with a roof forward facing shot.

also, up high is better IMO. on thr bumper like you are saying seems too low and contains no static image so theres nothing to give the shot scale or perspective.

check out the double sided tape mount. we use those in off road racing all the time and they work awesome.

play around in the drive way and your neighborhood with different angles to see what ya like before ya go get rad in the dirt and film a run that looks lame on video

I have a lot of video with the camera mounted relatively high and thought that on occasion the low perspective might have been cool (e.g., jumps). But maybe not. Intend to experiment a little this weekend. Will see what happens.

A cool view might be mounting the gopro somewhere on the front bumper centered looking underneath the truck. With the gopro 170° field of view you could get both tires and suspension???

Ok, based on my first test run, this has lots of potential; gives you a great feel for speed. But way too much vibration; almost impossible to watch the video. Going to try to wrap the light bar with rubber or something to improve grip and hopefully minimize all the shake.

Here is the current set up. Hangs directly below the bar with fewer Go Pro arms connected, which was probably the key to eliminating the shake. But I also wrapped black kitchen drawer liner around the light bar a couple times too. Zip ties just in case. Will post some video clips in a bit. Filmed in Houston so they suck but I think the low mount will translate well to off road. The camera is currently about 3 inches above the skid plate line as it angles up from the bottom.

Ok, here is the crappy video. Rocky road behind a shopping center was the best I could find; runs on the feeder road were pretty fun especially with Stage 3 - no more hop. All the noise is coming from my license plate - bolted at the top but need to drill holes in the bottom and zip tie it to quiet it down.
Essentially this is the view from your skid plate, which I think could be a cool view. Imagine your skid plate screaming at you at the Texas Raptor Run: "Slow down ... slow down... Ouch!!! Hey $%#%$#%, slow the ##$% down! I just got punched in the face!"

I dig it man, I'm really interested because I'm going to be doing something similar when I get home and put my ADD bumper on. Going to flip it around and get front suspension shots too.

Another one I think would be badass is mounting the camera on the running board.

Those with aftermarket bumpers should be able to get some great shots of the front suspension. Just don't hang it too low or you will turn your go pro into an expensive and ineffective skid plate!

yeah I had the roll bar mount for mine and mounted on my SDHQ bumper for a view down the side of the truck (kinda over the hood and down the side), forward and backward, even to video the front suspension a time or two.

Those mounts hold up well. No issues.

We use the GoPro camera's and different mounts with many of our racing teams from sprint cars, drag racing and monster trucks. The only issue we have had so far with any of them is on one of our Nitro drag cars with some tire shake broke the camera, something inside. Otherwise they are great.
