GJ Brake - Reverse - Connection Point

Hey guys - installed the GJ 3rd brake light over the weekend. Thanks @Kmandoske for the help on Sunday with the harness! Everything working great.

I still need to install the reverse splice connector. 2 questions:

1. GJ install guide is for 2015-2018 - can anyone confirm the specified wire (Green-Brown on pin #11) is the same wire color on 2020 trucks?
2. Where are you adding the splice? Up by the connector itself? Or further down in the footwell (by door sill area)? Pics would be helpful.

Just look for pin #11 and if you are concerned with the color being different... use a voltmeter to ensure it's the right wire. If it's pin #11 you should be fine regardless of a color change with Ford (my trucks a 2018 so I can't tell).

You're doing the splice on that pins wire... just look for the bundle of wires coming out of the harness...

thanks but the issue I have is you can’t see which wire goes to pin #11 unless you remove the “cap” from the connector itself..

Can you describe this process? I can’t start the truck with the connector unplugged. GJ/LVJ give a vampire splice connector. Do you mean strip the insulation on the Green-Brown wire to test?

Yes I have one. Can you describe how I would use it in this situation? Are you saying I should strip insulation on the "suspected" #11 pin wire, put truck in Reverse, and check if the "suspected pin" has a voltage increase? Or something different? Thanks

In a nutshell... yes... but you don't need to strip the wire. You'll just poke it into the side of the wire (it'll pierce it enough to get voltage).

Should go from 0v to 12v DC

Confirming the correct wire on 2020’s is still Green-Brown.

There was literally no way to test this at the BCM plug since 1. No room and 2. Wires aren’t accessible when plugged in to get a DMM on it.

Therefore I tested the wire down closer to the doorsill and made my connection there. After the pic was taken, I wrapped everything back up nice and tight.
