On phase II of my Raptor build, the wheels and tires phase, and looking for some insights.

I drive a majority in the city but still want to have the off road capabilities for when I have some free time and want to run it and hit some trails. I'd prefer something from a 0 to -12"ish" offset and have been thinking going up to a 20". Now I know what you're thinking, 20" 0 to -12 offset off roading hahaha. But when I think okay let me stick in some 17's and keep my factory set of tires I still want the 0 to -12 offset look and if I take it off road I just keep hearing those fenders are getting ripped off.

Where I'm at right now is go ahead and get the 20" for the city and then just keep my factory wheels and tires so I can go back to 17" AND a positive+ offset for when I want to take it off roading. Just have to pony up the extra $2k for another set of tires to go on the new wheels.

I like the Method NV605 specs 20x9 -12 offset or the NV305's 18x9 0 offset (20" in the 305's says -18 offset which is a little too much poke for me)

MR605 would be 2" out from stock. MR305 18x9 +00 would be 1.5" out from stock.

And if I run it off road what offset would be considered "safe" to not rip the fenders off? In your opinion would it have to be a positive+ offset or can you get away with running a 0 offset off road? I know it also probably depends on how hard I'm running it and size of the tires but let's just say I want the truck to maintain it's full capabilities.

P.S. I wanted to stick with a 35"-36" tire.

@theonepercent I'd probably stick with the smaller more positive offset wheels for hard offroading. Mild stuff is fine for 20's but you do lose the ability to air down as much and the offset may cause some issues under certain circumstances.

Do any of you have any experience with RRW wheels; I'm not familiar with them but I really like the RR7-H wheels. They are flow formed so a bit "better" than the regular cast, they also have the hybrid beadlock capability like the factory wheels and they weigh 26lbs and they are pretty reasonably priced at $280 a corner. Any reason I should be doubting my judgment on these and look elsewhere?

@speedracer00 we used to sell them. I actually had some on my truck for a while (different model). They make pretty nice wheels but the customer service wasn't ideal so we parted ways. The major downside to the RR7-H is the beauty ring. If you run it as a true beadlock it looks great. But if you run it as a simulated like the OE Ford wheels the beauty ring they use leaves a gap. And the bolts poke out quite a bit. You can always run them with no ring as well.

HMMM! you know, I'm **** retentive enough that a gap like that would drive me nuts and I'm also lazy enough that i don't want to deal with a workaround. Darn, back to the search; I bet there is a machine learning algo somewhere on the google server that knows I'm about to search raptor wheels again I can almost hear it going "he's gonna search it again in 3, 2, 1...".

What's your thoughts on the RRW RR5-V, that was a wheel high up on my list and looks simple. Obviously, like the Methods too but everybody and their cousin has Methods. Although, 315's are probably one of the best looking wheels in my opinion!

@pnwobrigade Another great looking wheel and you won't have the gap from the ring since it's cast into the wheel like a Method. RRW makes a nice product and I don't deny that. But the lack of customer service and communication is why we don't sell them anymore. They rarely answer the phone, they have backorders that literally went over 12 months (pre covid). They do a ton of "pre-orders" as well and they can take forever to fill them. So just be wary of a "pre-order" product of theirs.

RRW will be unique and you wont see many on the road. But buy 5 or 6 in case you damage a wheel or get a defect.

Method is super common but they do have some of the best customer service and their finish warranty is 2 years compared to everyone elses 1 year. And they typically have a lot of inventory.
