GEN 2 to GEN 1, thoughts

Ford took a big hit on reliability in general. I personally know 2 people who had lemons with a 17 and 19 Gen2.

Once again...according to what data? Anecdotal evidence is not conclusive of anything. Everyone knows a guy who knows a guy, it’s all BS.

Just because a vehicle is repurchased does not make it a “lemon”. Vehicles can be repurchased simply because the dealer took too long to diagnose and repair a simple issue or because parts are on backorder. Misdiagnosis is also a common factor, states only allow a certain number of repair attempts before a vehicle is eligible for BB, regardless of how minuscule the issue may be.

I go through my closet ever six months because I like to refresh certain polos.

I go to the thrift store every six months because I can find nearly new stuff donated by people with more money than sense. That, and my wife doesn't hit the roof when I change the oil in a nice shirt that cost me $5 ...

Interesting to see the defensive posts, wasn't intending to start a keyboard warrior war, but on this forum and in-person out in the wild in California & Baja. I hear the chatter in-person, chatter of how well/poor some upgrades are performing, to some issue that needs immediate attention, etc., etc., and then comes the this/that (often times cam phasers(perhaps early years of the Ecoboost?!?!), turbo issues, or no-start needing to be put on a trailer) on their Gen-2 trucks. Sure on paper the Gen-2 has more HP & Torque, tech, the list goes on, but what also see is that a lot of Gen-2 owners have had more than one/two of them; why? Many/most Gen-1 owners still have theirs, some sold and regretted, some sold and got another one, and some are selling their Gen-2s to get Gen-1s. Just saying... Having the fastest truck doesn't always get you home.

It's enough for me but obviously they're good trucks. I've always liked NA V8s for reliability and simplicity. Also having lots of tech isn't a thing for me.

I used to frequent the thrift store on my installation when I needed new rank insignias LOL. I would like to dress like I do not get my meat from Walmart or Dollar general.

Everything you’ve said is entirely hearsay and anecdotal. There are no known “turbo issues” or no start issues, those are both baseless claims and border on ridiculous.

Where is this data that Gen 2 owners have had more than 1 truck and Gen 1 owners haven’t? There is no data, because you’re simply making things up at this point. And nobody with any sense would sell a newer, faster, higher performing truck for the old version. As vehicles age and accumulate miles parts get old and wear out. To make the claim that an older truck is going to be more reliable than a new one is just ignorant.

The Gen 2 wipes the floor with the Gen 1 in every regard. As it should being the newer, second generation product. Get over it and stop grasping at straws and making baseless claims.

only stipulation is buying an older model in order to put money in it to build it up. like selling a '15 mustang to go build a 66 fastback with a coyote... which would in the end be a better faster cooler car than the stock '15. so thats what i see here. people can sell a gen2 for great value go buy a gen1 or older truck and build it up to outperform the stock truck they had..

yeah stock vs stock its gonna be 100% up to what the driver prefers... but $ for $ selling a gen2 for $80k and going and buying/building an $80k gen1 i bet youll get more out of the gen1 lol

Dude, I'm clearly not worked up anywhere near where you're at; in fact, not at all as my claims aren't baseless. It comes from 1st hand conversations over the years. Let's agree to disagree.
