Looking at a 2018 Scab, 802, carbon with 28K miles tomorrow ar Car Max. They want 53K. Based on this thread it seems like a great deal right?

Definitely sounds like it’s in the range today. Lower mikes too and scabs are a little harder to come across. Run it on KBB and just compare prices you have found. Doesn’t hurt to try and deal some either. But it’s a sellers market.

I got my 2017 802 SCAB w/ 24k on it about 15 months ago from a member here for 50k. I’d say you’d be doing ok with that deal.

Anytime you buy used, especially with a performance vehicle, you're taking a significant risk. Look no no further than YouTube to see how some people treat these vehicles and then unload them. It ended up at CarMax for a reason, as opposed to a dealer as a CPO. Just something to consider, especially given some recent experiences posted on here.

I just picked up a Camaro SS 1LE and they warranty the car even for track days. I saw a YouTube video of this guy tracking his car and overrev the motor past 7k and it toasted the pistons. Chevy picked up the tab for everything. I call that standing behind your product. The dealers here in CA are a joke and I’ve purchased all my new vehicles from out of state. I hate wasting time with clueless salesman that need to ask their manager for approval. I always deal with the dealers that can provide OTD numbers and no BS fees. I imagine the gen3 is going to be over $80-90k as the normal loaded Lariat F-150 is going for $60k-70k. If inflation takes hold in the monetary system, then we could see over $100k if they try to compete with the TRX.

They don't always stand behind their 1LE's or the Z-28's. Plenty of people complaining about it on the chevy forums. If a dealer can find proof of track time they won't warranty it. In 2014 I couldn't find a California dealer that even new what a 1LE was.
One guy on you tube doesn't out way the rest. I bet if you have a problem you will get denied since you bought the car out of state. Their good strong cars. Common since and maintenance and you won't have any problems anyways.

They warranty track use and I plan to take it to the track. Not sure what dealer you went to that denied your claim, but you should consult a lawyer. I plan to stay stock and just run HPDE. When the warranty is up, then I’ll throw on a Maggie heartbreaker.

For me, that's pretty funny right there. Have attorney's on retainer. Since 2013 I've spent more than 200k in Atty fees. Around here I'm pretty versed in how the courts work all the way up to the Nevada Supreme Court. Not worth the bother for just a car issue because in the long run all that matters is what Judge you pull. Get the wrong Judge and you will never see a jury trial.

That seems great compared to the changes currently, certainly as expressed on this thread, congrats. How do you like it? Did you have a gen 1 prior? Drove a 5.4 today and was not impressed enough to buy. Looked cool as sh*t though.

This is not necessary true that carmax is a dumping ground for bad trucks. This person may have lost their job due to covid and looking to trade in for cash today or was looking to downgrade to standard truck...at carmax you can drive all the big three at once (or whatever car) and pick one.

Good luck doing either of those things at dealerships without getting taking for a ride. Actual dealers being jackasses is what has allowed carmax to thrive in the first place...
