I am 42 years old, my 2017 is the third Raptor I have owned. I live on a 3-mile long dirt road in the middle of nowhere, 150 miles from any major city.
I have not owned any type of sports car since my 1987 Mazda RX7 Turbo II. That was a long time ago. Sports cars do not do well on the dirt roads where I live. I have replaced multiple oil pans due to bottoming out cars in the past. I have also been stuck in the snow numerous times with high performance rear wheel drive cars. I have owned numerous off-road oriented vehicles including a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited.
I drive off pavement with my Raptor all the time, but many of the trails around here are mountainous and wooded, they are far too narrow for a Raptor. I have a side-by-side for hardcore off-road trails in this area. There are hundreds of miles of dirt roads in my region, I enjoy bombing up and down these dirt roads at high speeds with my Raptor.
My Raptor is not my daily driver. I have a company car which is generally a smaller all-wheel drive vehicle. My current company car is a 2017 Ford Escape all wheel drive.
One final note: I did not buy my Raptor for looks or status. Honestly, there are times when I am embarrassed because people know that I own a $65,000+ truck. I would never buy a Ford F-150 Platinum Edition or King Ranch or some other bling package like that. I love high performance off road vehicles, that is why I bought a Raptor.
