Gen 2 Owner demographics?

Point #1 I would beg to differ. Scratch off the LSX, and Mustang group. Correct with Subaru crowd, Porsche, Land Rover, Range Rover, and anything else turbo.
I’m the original owner of a 2003 mustang cobra. It is modded and looks great in the garage next to my daily driven raptor. Just saying.

Have a V8 M3 and a V8 540i 6spd, so I have my V8 itch well taken care of and don't need it in my truck.

Neighbor has a G1 and looks at my truck with envy every time he sees it. Surprisingly I have gotten tons of compliments on how "tough" my G2 sounds. I don't really agree, but it is interesting to hear the lay person's opinion. Seems V8 elitism mostly only exists on enthusiast forums.

Im 58 have driven f250 and 350 all my life.gas and diesel.use mine as dd wife has 14 scab in garage,never gets used.

Just interested in a rough demographic of Gen 2 owners. From this forum I recognize some names I have seen on other enthusiast forums, and based on the comments and suggestions I have read I would guess:

1)Gen 2 Raptor owners tend to come from a sports car background - LSX, Mustang, Subaru, Porsche, BMW etc - and have had reasonable to extensive experience modding, tracking, obsessing

2)Gen 2 owners may have the Raptor as a secondary vehicle to a daily driver and probably not as their main performance vehicle

3)owners may be 40+ in age in the median range

4)owners may have never owned an true off-road vehicle (true rock crawling FJ/CJ/TJ/JK or Rallye style race car) but may have had a Grand Cherokee, Range Rover, X5/X6, non-lifted premium 4x4 Full sized pickup

How far "off" (or "on") am I?

"On" for me, although 30s not 40s. No shame in my game - have always loved the Raptors even though it's unlikely I'll ever seriously off-road it, but the truck makes me smile every time I drive it. Not concerned in the slightest if some people feel it's wasted on me. Drive what makes you happy.

How far "off" (or "on") am I?

1. Previous vehicle was a Focus ST. Not a sports car per se, but definitely fun to throw around corners. No modding experience.

2. Raptor is my primary vehicle, but I work from my home office, so no commute. If I had an office job in a big city, I'd definitely consider having a DD a little on the smaller side for getting around.

4. Correct. Main decision to buy the Raptor was my move to Colorado. All my friends out here were hiking, biking, and camping in the back country off of some pretty rough trails and I'd have to leave the ST in a parking lot and ride with them. Figured it was time to buy something capable.

BTW, my Raptor has seen plenty of offroad use and has the scars to prove it. From 60 mph across the Utah desert to climbing rocky roads in Colorado, she's doing what she was made to do for sure!

Well spoken, as long as you're footing the bill it's yours to drive/mod any way you want.

Always exceptions but I think you got it pretty close to the mark. And I have to disagree with one of the responses that stated to remove the Mustang, while it may not be as pricy as a Porsche or BMW, many of the younger (and cash strapped) folks start with Mustangs/Camaro's and move up into the more expensive sports toys as budget allows.

Personally, I'm in my late 50's (old dude) with the attitude of a 25 year old, have owned multiple sports vehicles in the past, the Raptor is my DD, I have owned 3 other F-150 SCREW 4x4's, but only light off roading until the Raptor came along (plan on getting off road more with this truck). I was an avid sport bike rider for many years, finally retired the rocket and have a Harley now (that was a tough transition, at first it felt like I was riding a really heavy couch with lousy brakes ;) ). I'm always looking for mods on my vehicles, and half the fun of ownership is doing the mods myself. I respect others decisions to use/mod their cars/trucks/toys any way they want and try and keep an open mind on some of the more hideous mods I've seen over the years :)

I've owned quite a few cars/bikes over the years here are a few:

2018 Raptor SCREW
2017 Shelby GT350 - Electronics Pkg (Recaros, etc)
2016 Harley FLSS (Screaming Eagle 110 and other mods)
2008 Marin Mt. Vision mountain bike
2016 TREK Domane 4.5 disc

2013 Porsche Carrera S (PDK w/Sport Chrono)
2009 Porsche Carrera S 6spd manual (missed that a lot when got the PDK)

2007 Shelby GT500 (drove like a really fast brick)

2013 Triumph Speed Triple 1050 cc "Hooligan bike"

2008 Honda CBR 1000RR (wicked fast)

1998 Honda Super Hawk 1000cc V-twin (miss that bike)

Many other Mustang GT's with various mods.

My very first car in High School was a 1967 Ranchero (think stacked headlight model) with a 390 V8 and C6 trans. Rebuilt engine in auto shop class, installed an aluminum intake with Holly 4bbl double pumper, 1/4 racing Crane Cam, and free flowing dual exhaust. Also, put a shift kit in the C6.

All good and for those that fondly remember the "Muscle Car/Pony Car Era" we're truly living it right now! Never before have so many powerful, sweet handling vehicles from so many manufacturers been available to the public....

I think the Mustang statement is the only thing off. Ironically, I just bought a 2018 Mustang GT 3 weeks ago instead of pulling the trigger on a Gen2. Mainly because we decided to sign a contract on a $66k pool, which will be much more family friendly.

Congrats on the new GT! Please post a pic and how did you option it? Track/performance pack, manual or 10sp auto?
