ME120 you need a friend. Come down here to Texas and I will show you some trails. I promise you will be adding to your list of things you like. The 7 you listed is what most owners would list ( besides 5 lol)
Even if you never take it off the payment the thought that you have all that power and capabilities in your palms is like being Clark Kent. Some day you will fly...

Thank you for the offer. I'm sure I would like the deer hunting , but the heat and rattle snakes are a big problem for me.

Again the problem for me is where I live. Where I live in maine basically and unfortunately a extension of Massachusetts and New York, and that is no exaggeration. Maine is basically like 2 completely different states. You've got from topsham to the bridge in Portsmouth, NH which is basically Massachusetts. Then you have from Augusta north and west, which is really more rural and where you would have a better chance to utilize the raptor for what it is. And believe me, the people are much different as well.

For I live I have to travel at least 2-3 hours to get even close to " northeast Raptor country", and unfortunately I just don't have a lot of time for that.

I think you are asking yourself the wrong question. Does it matter if you are "using the truck for what it was built for"? As long as you are happy, enjoy the vehicle, and it does what you need, does it matter what it was built for?

The right question, to me, is "would another vehicle make me happier"?

And in my case, no.

I do live in the desert, but I do not, typically, use the Raptor the way people advertise it. I do use it often off road, probably several times a week on average, but I have never had it air-borne on purpose. My off road tends to be slow and crawly. Really, for my off-road use, something like the Jeep Rubicon Hard Rock, Toyota Tacoma PRO, or Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 would fit better than the Raptor. However, I have driven all of those options (in picking my truck) and while they may have been slightly better for my off road application they were not anywhere near as much fun, or comfortable, on road.

The Raptor is the best all around truck I have ever owned. I have owned trucks that hauled more, I have owned trucks that fit my off-road driving better, my wife hates trying to park it, and I for damn sure have owned trucks that got better gas mileage. But I can honestly say, I have owned few vehicles, and no new vehicles in recent years, that make me smile as much and that I look forward to taking on trips as much as the Raptor. The off-road suspension works great off-road, but it also makes the on-road ride fantastic, compared to most trucks. The seats are simply great. The performance is exceptional. The technology is very supportive and keeps me free from fatigue on long over-the-road trips.

I have had my 2018 for about 10 months now. I have 22k miles on it. And if it went away tomorrow I would go get a new one the next day.

Don't get me wrong, I am open to another vehicle if that vehicle makes me happier, over all, not just in limited sets of factors, than the Raptor. So far I have not found one that does so. Now, if they do a Raptorized version of the new Bronco, or if the Ranger Raptor comes to the US (with more HP than the existing Ranger Raptor), or if the rumored Highboy has a decent on-road ride...or if someone else comes out with a vehicle that is similarly impressive to the Raptor, then I will re-assess. But for right now the Raptor is what I want, and what I like, genuinely enjoy, to drive.

T!

Sounds like you live in , " raptor country", and it's obvious that you have really done your homework. Glad to see you are enjoying the raptor for what it was built for and it's intended use.

It's funny you bring up the vehicles like the jeep, tacoma, or even a ford bronco like SUV, because those size trucks/SUV'S are definitely much more useful where I live.

Great write up.

It’s is worth the 2-3 hour drive. I love driving mine. I went 24 hours to get to the ski slops of Utah and loved the drive.

So, you have pointed out that your failure to use your raptor "as it was intended" is completely your fault. I get it now.

You don't think people in Colorado or California drive a few hours to get to trails or desert?

If you cant bring yourself to drive 2 hours or less to an offroad park that costs $25, you really have no right to cry about there being nowhere to use your raptor. It's pure laziness on your part.

Unfortunately we do not have off road parks, large beaches with vehicle access, or deserts in Maine. Correction, we do have beaches, but they are not for off-roading like in some states.

The best we have up here is frozen lakes and gravel paper company roads up in northern Maine. There are some large open clear cuts, but a lot of them are not vehicle accessible unless you want to do some serious damage to your truck.

Rocky Mountain Terrain park is less than 2 hours from the coast and costs $25.

Maine is an extremely rural state and there is extensive offroading available.

Also, while you can't offroad there, there is literally the desert of Maine.

Saying Maine isn't good for offroading is incorrect, and actually kind of ridiculous.

I think you might want to move back to New Jersey...

Xrocket21 does have a point. I was trying to convey the same thing it’s just a matter as if you want to go off-roading or not.
I feel like I am now trying to talk you in to keeping your raptor as this form as given you many opportunities and options to use your raptor the way some of us do. If you are just taking a poll, then that’s one thing, but if you are complaining that Ford offered you a Truck without 10 minuet access to the desert to Baja in, then I give up. Good luck to you ME120.

Thank you. I didn’t realize that existed. I will definitely give it a try in the LX 570. Just left the website. Again, thank you very much for the info.

In response to your “ Maine is extremely rural”, 30 years ago I would agree with you. Today, no way. Kittery to Augusta is very congested and 75 percent of the states population exists there and down the route 1 sea coast. In reality Maine is just a extension of Massachusetts. Matter of fact Maine would be better off becoming part of Massachusetts, we would certainly benefit financially as far as government funding and incoming new businesses to help create jobs and drive up family salaries, which are terrible in Maine.

Maine a rural state ? Yep , you sure would not know by how liberal our Maine government is. I have no doubt in 2020 Maine will back either Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth warren for president.
