2012 Supercrew with 6.2L..

Ford 6.2L Modular Piston/Rod Upgrade from Livernois 700-750 for rods and 1100-1200 for the pistons... Install by a shop about 6-7 grand......Damn, guess it's time to bust out the wrenches...

HO Intercooled System, 6.2L Raptor: MSRP: $6,496 from ProCharger

B. 2011 Ford Raptor 6.2L Headers with Catted 3" Leads & Y $1,590.00 from Stainless Works...

Just want to see what you all think about this setup. I am trying to find the pricing from Livernois but no reply yet. I also heard of other Companies with good quality in FL but cannot recall the names. Bottom line is i want a S/C with nice full exhaust with cutout and i cannot trust the current powdered situation with the pistons and rods. I am sure this setup will work fine with the current guts but the question is for how long? 1 foul and everything goes fast so i think i am playing it very safe with forged piston and rods.. Please let me know what you think or better pricing and Companies. I am all ears..BTW i am playing with about 10K in extra cash for this setup and have until AUG till the beast arrives.....Thanx....

Your budget is too small for what you want, especially if you are not completing the work yourself.

The Raptor R and the XT both produce quite a bit more power than the normal 6.2 with the cams and tuning and what not and the never have any trouble. My recommendation for 10k is to purchase the Procharger setup, FULL exhaust, labor for install (again if you are not doing it yourself), maybe an Aeroforce or other guages to monitor A/F and other pids, and dyno time with a "great" tuner. That should put you around 500-550hp and with a reliable safe tune you shouldn't have to worry about your internals. my .02 cents, FFS

Yes, those are the 2 things i want but i still don't trust the powdered rods and the pistons..They work great for current setup but forged is what i need...You say too expensive...I'm sure your'e right but i have a little room to negotiate with but trying to stay there...I guess i just need the prices of the forged rods n pistons...I have not found prices yet..If you or someone else may know prices of a reliable Co. please let me know....Call me stubborn but i am set on being over 600HP....Thanx again for your advice.....

Well then I think you are going to have to up your budget is you want a forged short block and over 600hp. As of right now, I think Livernois, JLP, JDM, Accufab and a coupleof the places that have been building and having parts developed for these. It would be best to talk to one of them on pricing.

Are you just trying to buy the parts separately and have them installed locally or are you trying to buy a completed shortblock? Buying a "built" shortblock is probably the best way to go IMO so you are not re-using anything and then you can sale off your stock shortblock to help compensate the cost. These are my thoughts.

The place I would not go cheap is the tuning however, it is the foundation of how well your truck will run, how enjoyable it will be, how much power it will put out, and most importantly how reliable it will be and how long it will last. After reading here and another Raptor forum, seems like most people like Troyer or 5-Star. If you also get cams, go with a different cubic displacement or higher compression, that is where you will really need to do your research to see who can handle the tuning of that specific setup. Thanx Stan.....Collective at the moment...Great info..I did call Livernois and rods n pistons 1200$...Sweet but then 6 to 7k on install....Daaang....Now i have all these others you have given me and i will research and compare away...If need be, i think i may need to do piece by piece, sux but i think it is the norm for guys like me with non deep pockets...So for 10K, go ahead and change the rods n pistons and get the full exhaust and install...Then its just saving that 6500$ for that ProCharger.(in the mean time i will be driving softly breaking her in before her first service)...May not be over 600HP for an xtra few months but i at least when i do it, i know it is done to my liking and there is no powder involved....but then again i would like to have my cake and eat it too so time to go research....Thanx again...

What are you planning on doing with the truck? If you want a sport truck you bought the wrong one. More than 600 hp in a street truck that weighs 6k lbs and has 35" All Terrarins? :wow:

Hmmm...There is no limit on power but i have driven this truck and it needs a few more pony's IMO...Yes i was thinking after the 600HP i would consider it to be a S/C 6k lb Sport, off road, climb and jump over all that other Cr*p truck with 35" treads to make it the right one for any person in the truck market....

50% more hp is hardly "a few more ponies". The vid of the procharged truck looks pretty hard to control as is. More is great but the tires arent designed for it, you cant use it off road (or on road), the truck still wont be as fast as a 2nd gen Lightning, and it wont be as reliable. The Raptor R/XT had 500 N/A hp. They could have had a lot more than that, but it would be useless and hard to control. Range is also something to consider, you cant go offroad very far if you need to fill up every 50 miles.

True on the not that fast compared to the lighting but it will be some what of a sleeper on the road and you can always use more power but i understand ur point on too much, i think this truck would be about max usable HP at 600 at the flywheel granted the driving skills are there....As far as the range, There is not much of a difference on this truck, with or with out the S/C...It is going to suck regardless(36gallons)....The whole point of installing forged rods n pistons is to make it far more reliable....another option i am strongly looking at is livernois Stroker Rotating Assembly or the Stroker Longblock with Stainless works Ford Raptor 6.2L Headers with Catted 3" Leads & Y and then think about throwing the S/C on top of it....I may not need it but it is nice to have it and the "Just because" factor is there to0(love mods, it whats separates my truck from other Raptor owners)....The sound as well besides i have until AUG to figure out which route is best......

Since this is a future build, replace Procharger with Whipple.. My opinion is go with the Whipple kit running "stock" boost and see if that power level is good enough for you before going into the engine.
