Here's the reality. Neither the GEN1 nor GEN2 Raptor is s race truck. They are mass produced on the same Ford factory assembly line as every other F150. I don't remember what the GEN2s weigh, but the GEN1 SCAB weighs 6,006 pounds. Three tons. No amount of "weight savings" on a three ton assembly line manufactured truck is going to make any real world difference. Fantasy weight savings/performance be damned.

For millionaires who spend extravagantly to personalize their trucks and are insensitive to the cost of doing so (this is the automotive equivalent to peeing on everything you own to mark it as your territory), fine. Bragging rights don't equate to performance. It proves that you have money to burn, and that's all it proves. This is high dollar pimping your truck.

The gen 2 “is not a race truck”?

If I told you 10 years ago Ford would produce a factory lifted truck w/ Fox suspension, 35”s, 4.10s, locking diffs, a 10 speed tranny, a beefed up frame, a trick transfer case allowing for AWD, an all AL body & a 450hp/510tq twin ******* turbo V6 w/ the same forged guts plucked outta their legendary GT supercar AND completed the Baja (race) off the showroom floor I’m pretty damn sure ya wouldn’t even believe it but if ya did you’d most certainly say - that’s a “race truck”

That’s exactly what it is. Get a tune.

GenII SCAB is about 5370 according to my PA registration.

Is the Subaru STI a rally car? It's a car you can enter in a rally, but its not a truly a rally car. Shit, I can enter any AWD car in a rally..
When I think of race, I think of RACE, like trophy truck or WRC. In the grand scheme the raptor isnt far far above a regular f150 as a trophy truck is above a Raptor. Total different ball game.

I guess it depends how far you want to take it just like anything else. For me, I’d rather spend an extra 1500 on a quality part that is above the rest.

As for saying the raptor isn’t a race truck, your correct. It’s a platform just like anything else is that you can build on and turn into a race truck....or you can go full purpose built custom frame and all....

I don’t think a Porsche 911 from the factory is a race car, but with some modifications it certainly can be.

what I’m saying is all you need is a long travel along with a 4 link suspension in the back and your pretty much ready to go, throw a RBM 4.2 with G57s in it and your ready to run the Baja 1000

This is an excerpt from the Wikipedia page on Trophy Trucks:

"Trophy trucks have been traditionally two-wheel drive but recent developments have seen more than one truck builder implementing all-wheel drive equipment. Most feature a 4130 chromoly steel tube-frame chassis covered by an aerodynamically engineered composite body. The SCORE International Rule Book defines and specifies the Trophy Truck requirements.

Gasoline engines are naturally aspirated, and typically Ford or Chevrolet V8 engines, generating in excess of 850-900 BHP (630-670 kW) and 900lb-foot (1200 N-m) of torque. So no, GEN2 Raptors are not trophy trucks. Neither are GEN1s. No vehicle that comes off the end of an assembly line is a trophy truck.
Reality - It's a harsh mistress.

With the amount of weight I and others have added to truck w/ bumpers, springs, and a thousand other mods... I see where weight loss is important. But is it a trailer to the desert truck? Or a daily driver and adventure seeking weekend truck? Titanium is super pricey. Actually saw a 3’ diameter x 10’L stock core at a warehouse in the Navy once. Worth more than probably everyone on the forum has in their wallets currently.
