Thanks for the photos - that’s exactly what I was expecting to see. I appreciate the confirmation

My short block was done by RMB and the heads were done by Headgames. Tuning done by Win @GooseTuned . We worked so hard tuning that thing. Lots of datalogs and could never get it to act right from the start. From the install it was never right for some reason. I honestly was waiting for it to grenade on me. Win worked overtime with me trying to figure it out.You are in luck! I kept my original one and honestly forgot to take photos of it until now. It definitely looks like the rubber was separating! Super glad that I did the upgrade while I was in there. Also, yes, the engine feels much smoother. I honestly think that is where the extra "noise" is coming from. The engine is much quieter and smoother so now my stupid mechanic brain hears everything else. It is a high milage engine and trans that was neglected before me so I can't expect everything to be perfect.
WOW! looks like you had a spicy tune up in that bad boy especially if it was enough to push a head gasket like that on a CSS block. Who did the built short block and who did the tuning if you don't mind me asking? I am eager to tune mine but I am going through fixing all the issues and doing the supporting mods before I pull the trigger on a tune. Big issue as well is it looks like I am going to have to relocate to California for a few years in 2026 so i am trying to be selective about mods and tuning so I can avoid a headache down there.
Geoff if there are any other photos you need let me know.
That's crazy man, I am sorry to hear that. I have done a couple 4 second turbo cars in the past and there are some cars that (like you said) just refuse to act right no matter how much money you throw at them! I am sure that new motor with some minor upgrades like the balancer will do great for you!My short block was done by RMB and the heads were done by Headgames. Tuning done by Win @GooseTuned . I'm done with it and ready to move on to a fresh start with a reliable stock motor.
Thanks for giving me some confirmation on my purchase! Feels good to know it was the right move. I am super interested to see how things progress with the Gen 1 oil pump swap and the other Gen 3 valve train components. looking forward to upgrading my Gen 2 with some of these parts when the time comes.Yup, it’s good you did this - that thing is shot. The primary Elastomer sections failed and it’s popping out on the sides. A worn pulley like that with rubber popping out is not damping the harmonics (and vibrations). This can accelerate the crankshaft’s demise.
The gen3 got a stronger crank and revised crank pulley as a result.
Yes sir thats the hope. Going to swap over the ID1050s Injectors, XDI-EVO HPFP, and the ATI super damper. With those and the Garrett Powermax stage 2 turbos I should have a solid built. That's crazy man, I am sorry to hear that. Those ID1050's are great injectors for sure. Another solid choice for injectors is Tom Sewell over at Fuel Injector Development. I have used his stuff for years when I was doing racecar stuff. I bought a set of his FID1000's for my build. should be plenty of injector for e85. any idea what you will be doing with that CSS block? is it salvageable?Yes sir thats the hope. Soooooooooooo does the Gen 3 pulley fit the gen 2 and if so, could it be an “upgrade”?The gen3 got a stronger crank and revised crank pulley as a result.
