One thing I have noticed with the software update is the fact that the truck seems to cycle the ignition starter longer building pressure. I wonder if a half a second to full second additional ignition length helps build pressure to eliminate the rattle.

Just wondering,

Having mine done next week. MPT said I need to send them the updated file and they would send new tunes.

Mine is getting it done right now. I already had a rattle when I took mine in (25k miles). It's very brief, and lasts less than a second, but it's definitely the cam phaser rattle. I can imagine by 50k miles it sounds like a full-blown clothes dryer full of marbles.

Took mine in for the Reprogram recall. No change. My Cam Phasers are still noisy as hell at every cold start. Sounds like crap...

The issue with Ford is they wont take it to the next step without first doing the reprogram. Which I was told the only thing the reporgram does is boost oil pressure at start up, which is never a bad thing, but it didnt fix it and we all knew it wouldnt. Plus, I was told Ford does not have a fix for this at this time. Is this true?

I got my 19’ back yesterday from the dealer after 2 days for the cam phasers. I’ve been dreading the moment when the engine had to be dug into, however, looking over everything, it seems like they did a good job. Could hardly tell that they were even in the engine compartment.

Why is that an “issue”? Service bulletins/FSAs are always the first step in the repair process. If the issue is still present afterward, then they proceed with the necessary repairs.

The new calibration has nothing to do with oil pressure on startup. This has been discussed countless times on here. The new calibration was released to prevent the issue from occurring. If a vehicle already has the rattle noise, unit get the new calibration and new phasers to resolve the issue.

I checked the FSA, it doesn’t include a road test. I think some dealers were just doing it proactively to verify there were no issues after the update.
