This is Weird. Got the letter yesterday, Customer Satisfaction Program 21B10, 21n03, and 21N08
Recorded a cold startup this morning. No noticeable sound...compared to others who have posted here.
Called one dealer, they said ignore the letter, but would listen to my video if I brought it in.
Dealer number two scheduled the reflash for this Friday.
Think I'll take door number 2.

Any opinions?
What would you do?
All you need is 21B10; it’s revised software to prevent the issue from developing. No reason not to do it, it also provides extended warranty coverage.

Now we just need to find a way to clear it out of FordPass. I got the letter as well. Obviously they are not tracking who already had the reprogramming done, but as mentioned before more of a blanket approach in making sure everyone is aware and keep throwing it out there.

Mine started rattling a bit after sitting in the garage for two weeks or so without being started. I'd say two weeks of sitting should be enough to induce the rattle if you want to be sure. Regardless, you should get the software upadate if you go the letter.

I received my letter this week and am planning on getting it into the dealership for the update and potential replacement, whichever is warranted.

I too have the mirror clicking, so will have those two modules flashed as well.

Do you happen to have that TSB number handy? The only one I can find doesn't mention the Raptor.
It’s actually an SSM; #49217.

Everyone should be aware that the dealer cannot write the RO as “customer requests service message/bulletin ***”. The claim would be rejected by warranty.

Everything needs to be documented by customer concern. Therefore, as the customer, the symptom should be provided to the service writer. When the technician gets the RO, they run a symptom coded OASIS and the message/bulletin will populate.

I got the letter today, not sure what to do with it. I have a clunk sound on start but it is from the rear not the front of the truck,

Rear of the truck? That’s interesting and odd. Lets see, what mechanical pieces are back there and would be energized upon startup? Fuel pump, shock solenoids, diff locker, parking brake ‘19 and up, loose exhaust maybe? Power tailgate for some reason. Off the top of my head not sure what out back can cause a “clunk” on startup.

Went in for my appt to have the flash.
Service advisor advised me, "if it aint broke dont fix it"
So, now two dealers have told me not to do it!
WTF

We talked a bit about service intervals, warrantees, what is involved, part numbers, and such.
So, I am not doing it!

The problem with that approach is that the updated program is intended to prevent it from breaking. I had mine done a couple months ago when it first showed up on Ford app and haven't had any negative consequences. I'm hopeful having had it programmed will avoid the inconvenience of a major repair.

Good luck!

This doesn’t make any sense. You are not asking to get the phasers replaced (you are not having issues). You are asking per Ford to have the PCM update to prevent further issues so they don’t need replaced. It also increases your warranty for said part. I am not sure what your dealer is saying…?
