Well just cold started the truck after getting the PCM flash done. Unfortunately no change to the rattle. Still sounds like a school bus on start up. I did notice that the transmission shudder was gone yesterday on my drive home. I'm going to call the dealer today and see what they have to say about it. Honestly I'm not surprised. Wasn't sure how a software change could fix a hardware problem.

My 04/19 2019 Raptor had the 4 VCT cam phaser thingamajig done alone with 21B10 update due to a metallic light tapping/rattle for a minute or so each time I started the truck. It didn't sound like valvetrain or anything weird, good oil pressure, etc. Anyway, dealer said cam phasers and truck basically sounds the same after the "fix". Maybe tapping is a bit lighter and not as long. It was pretty minor beforehand and it's still minor, so I'm not going to worry about it. The dealer tech didn't screw anything else up and I got truck back with fresh oil/filter and a fixed squeaky sunroof fabric shade when it opened and closed.

Luckily, I have the Flood Ford factory warranty extension for 8yr/125k miles so if it blows up before that, not my problem, if it doesn't I'll trade truck before extended warranty expiration. Overall, still love the truck.

My 2019 built 03/2019 is scheduled for the 21B10 this Saturday morning. I sometimes hear a "knock" coming from somewhere only at cold start. Sometimes the noise is a lighter knock. I hear a knock and not a rattle assuming the definition of a rattle would be "several knocks". Is that the cam phaser I am hearing/feeling? I may also be having this so called "transmission shudder". I drive mostly with the auto start/stop thing turned off. What I thought I was feeling was that the computer was about to stop, but didn't because I had it turned off. It almost feels like it started but never stopped. Is this "transmission shudder"? It only happens while stopped and only once.

Do I tell the dealer about any of this Saturday when I take it in?

But does it sound like I am hearing or feeling cam phasers or transmission shudder?

Tough to determine without standing by your Raptor on cold startup and driving it to identify the stutter. I’d recommend you perform a search on this forum for both concerns. There’s a boatload of sound clips here of the dreaded cam phaser knock/tic.

From my understanding the software update only prevents the phasers from getting to the point where it happens, but if it is already happening they are already needing to be replaced in addition to the software fix.

I take mine in on the 17th, so hopefully they understand this and don't just try to push the software update the first time around.

I got it on the Ford App, for my 2020 , Ford said they did it but not real sure if I hear a difference or ever had problems... I didn't hear much as of clanks before when I would cold start, sometimes I would think I hear something rattle but I think it was all in my head.
