I got the notification too and MY 2017 had the cam phaser repair done and PCM reflashed last summer.. just spoke with my tech... I will pass by the shop this Friday 3/5.. he basically said that the only way to verify if this is a valid update, is to hook up the Ford IDS laptop to the OBD port and check to see if a PCM update is available. My truck was updated last September during the CAM Phaser repair, however when he entered my vin number in the Ford online system, it did not show that updates were required, so to be sure I will see him on Friday to verify! I will let you all know!

I have an early build 2018 and did not get this message. I've also had my cam phasers "repaired" once already and sounds like it's starting to come back.

I have not received a notification in FordPass for this FSA. I pulled up FSA 21B10, and there is a note that says “Some 2017-2020 F-150 Raptor/Limited, Expeditions, and Navigators will be added to 21B10 when software calibrations are released. Software calibrations are scheduled to be realeased by May 2021”. It also notes that all F-150 owners will be notified in FordPass, which is why we are seeing people get the alert even though the FSA does not yet apply to our vehicles.

I would like to know details of update , does it park the phasers faster before shutdown? limit phaser travel ? just speculating. Maybe Fordtechone could get some details. I learned with my Gen1 6.2 to let it idle a minute or two before shutdown and you wont get the 6.2 start up lifter tick.

I generally don't like updates , vehicles or phones , tv ect.... usually affects something. My 2014 eco tremor had transmission buzz in park . TSB called for new valvebody and reflash . I declined that . I had a trans service done drop pan ,new filter, refill at my dealer with tech i have used for last 11 years . I had him retorque all valve body bolts and noise was gone afterwards.

Just saw this over at Gen 2 FB group from Jessica Livernois:

"Recall is for reprogramming the POWERTRAIN module im fairly certain, not body. I have a hunch it is for variable displacement oil pump functions...i am unknowm to if it will save a known to easily fail part however. I regularly see CB and CC parts fail and the CDs have been great.
Program wise i believe you'll be forced to do a complete reprogram of the pcm and then have to reinstall the Roush software afterwards. Itll likely overwrite it."
