xl80s on the pillar, coupled with the rest of your lights would be great..

i'd swap the XL lens to spot.

thats what i ran on my gen1 with a 42" amazon light behind the grill and it was perfect, although i didnt have the lights you have.. should be great...

Yea, I'm thinking of using the XL80 lights but mounting them to a roof basket and angling them outwards more to provide more corner/side lighting rather than direct front lighting.

i think you'll be disappointed with them up high like that.. you'll be lighting up your hood, which in turn will mess with your night vision. thats why a lot of guys put the spot beams on, as the wide cornering parts of the lens cause a lot of diffusion on the hood.. you want that light down the road in front..

I don't plan on mounting them in the front of the basket but rather the side and angling them towards the corners so they aren't lighting the hood. I plan to use more of a spot rather than the wide cornering or work/scene.

So I tried to grab a couple pictures to show how much hood glare I have with my XL80s. Here is an inside shot from drivers seat and one from outside from the side. For me it works.

well, you should use squadrons or s2/s1 for that function.. xl80 are one of the brightest they offer, they are designed for higher speed down the road lighting. XL80s should be mounted straight ahead and level.. $.02

That makes sense as well. Maybe I'll just get some Squadron Sports in combo/driving mounted to the sides of the roof basket and angled slightly forward to light the side/corner of the truck. That should keep the majority of the light off the hood and windshield. It would just be nice to have some side and corner lighting as well instead of purely forward. I feel like with what I have now I have a ton of forward lighting, but not quite enough for the sides/corners. I just don't really like the glare off the hood that the A-pillar mounts usually cause.
