with 4A on the street. zero noise. So i would assume uneven, rocky off road type of surface is causing something to make those knocking sounds?
but in 2wd in off road doesn't make that knocking noise.

Have you done a good inspection under the truck? Take the skid plate off? It isn't unheard of for the front diff to just crack, unlikely but check. Have you checked the axles? I would test for a bad wheel bearing on both sides. I would probably also take a look at the IWEs for any signs of wear. Sway bar end links are a common source of noise but if it goes away in 2WD, that doesn't seem like a logical culprit.

Genius! You guys are amazing. This sound has been making me crazy. Slow speed bumps, potholes, washboards and ripples on my dirt road. Especially at slower speeds. Speed bumps were embarrassing! I was under there I don’t know how many times. Even drove it with all of the skid plates off to see if that could isolate it.
I usually fix everything myself and had finally decided to take my truck to someone to get the sound diagnosed $$. Got under the truck this morning and twisted the end links with some vise grips, sound was gone. For a bit anyway. Just ordered the new endlinks and nuts. Thank you for being here!

This is what they will look like when you pull them off.

It is astounding how much noise this can make. Replaced both but the passenger side was the one you see here that is so worn out.
Thanks again team. This has been driving me insane.
