Don't be fooled, most of that eye candy stuff only works if you keep the T- Mobile Data plan.
Yes the Audi needs a sim card to get info from cellular service.

And no you cannot switch carriers, or give data from your phone.

My wife's 2014 Q5 3.0T Prestige S Trim only has a small 5" Nav in the center of the dash.
The 7" Nav is for high end models only, WTF $68.800 not high enough.

And you know Ford will want to customize it, any OS they choose to go with, just like Cellular companies do.

So the saying goes, "Be careful what you wish for".

I for one I'm not holding my breath.

I want an actual gauge, not a ******** screen that will get washed out in the sun or get a row of dead pixels across it. Give me a mechanical gauge for speedo and rpm. Keep the dual screens like they have now and allow more customization of what you can read out. It's already accessible through the OBDII port so I don't see why not.

And like MTF, I'm not holding my breath. It will be some customized, bastardized version of what the worst parts of the other companies use. And for christ's sake, I don't know of one person that likes the damn wheel in the dash to navigate between menus...hopefully that doesn't make it into new Ford vehicles.

Huummmmm, Microsoft and Blackberry together.
Sync will switch to Blackberry,
MFT will still be Microsoft.

That's what the article says right? Very strange indeed.

Blackberry is a mistake. I predict they won't be around in the next 3 or 4 years. Nobody I know has a smart phone from them. It's Android or iCrap! Android is the biggest right now.

I'm in the tech industry in markets like automotive. One of the best operating systems for devices that are not PCs is an operating system from QNX. QNX has been delivering very robust GUI operating systems to non-PC devices for like 20 years. Their software is excellent.

RIM is the parent company for blackberry and RIM bought QNX a few years ago. Ford would have decided to use QNX software not Blackberry. Ford used Microsoft as the system integrator (the one who makes sure the system is rock solid and works) for the Sync1 system and when it came to Sync2 Microsoft refused. Ford went to a small software distributor, BSquare to be the system integrator for the MS software. Clearly this was a huge mistake. I suspect that Ford will use the QNX operating system and they will use someone else as the system integrator.
