Update on fuse #27

Had Ford perform the service to install/relocate fuse for the fuel pump relay. Cost me $150 as I no longer have the extended warranty. I made mention of having to pay for a service Ford has determined to be a problem to which the service manager put me in touch with the Service Rep for my region. Got a call back today from Ford and they had opened a case and agreed they should cover the expense. I am being refunded the $150. No haggling, pleading my case or terse conversations back and forth. It was rather effortless for those who may want to try reaching out to their dealer rep if they have had this issue.

About 6 months ago I had this problem happen to me....changed the fuse and was ready to go. Ordered the relocation kit.....just laid in garage. Fast forward to yesterday morning.....Head out to leave for work, crank no start, pull fuse it looks alright, replace anyways....nothing. Change the relay in the #8 spot....nothing. I am going to install the kit today. If they doesn't fix the problem guess I'll get it towed to a shop. Called a couple of places and they quoted $650.00 to replace the fuel pump. I hope this fixes the issue, and I don't have to spend Santa's money.

The truck also has a fuel pump drive/control module on the frame rail above spare tire. Those are know to go bad before fuel pumps, also way cheaper .

Did the relocation kit fix your startup issue?

202,000 miles and the notorious fuse 27 left me stranded last night. I robbed the horn fuse from inside the kick panel and made it home.

Question is now after reading this lengthy thread, do I take to stealership and try to get them to pay or do I just order the kit and do it myself?

If you can do it yourself, that's the way I would go. I don't think it's an actual recall or anything and 202k miles is probably well in excess of any warranty.

No sir....did it yesterday and still no joy. Called a roll back to come get it yesterday. e1d9a2102af806b1f3602789017f3b21.jpg

That sucks. Hope you get it running, might be FPDM like @J DAMAGE said and not as costly as the whole pump...
