Ford Performance Tune for Gen 3s

I just had mine installed today. Only have 20 miles on it. I don't notice the HP or even the torque yet. I have noticed the trans is 1000% better. Even after the reset for the tune. It really should come from the factory like this.

Really starting to lean toward getting this for the trans tune and more responsive power. Did you install yourself or a dealer?

Dealer did it for me.

Does anyone have any first hand info from FP about installing OTA updates with the tune installed? I had a notification this morning for a pending OTA update for battery optimization. I went ahead and flashed the truck back to stock then forced the update, then returned the FP tune to the ECU. I wasn’t sure if anyone knew for sure 100% if the tune needed to be removed or if it was fine to leave it installed for OTA updates.

My plan is to call tech support in the morning and ask if they have any advice.

I've had my fp tune in for over a month. I think 3 ota updates in the past week. They were for better hands free, air circulation and window operation. First one failed a few nights at first then it was successful and they just kept coming.

The calibration is stored on fords server so that your ota updates are not effected.

From FP: Generally speaking, the FP tune can be left installed during OTA updates. The truck does not need to be returned to stock.

In the event the OTA update is directed toward the ECU, the OTA update may not install or may show an error during the attempt IF the OTA is directly related to the files the tune changes.

1. You’ll either be prompted to return to stock, install the update, then reflash

Or

2. The OTA update may overwrite the FP tune. You’ll just need to reinstall/reflash the tune to the truck.

No known complications from OTA update installations or attempts. OTA updates have not “bricked” any ECUs flashed with FP tunes.
