Ford disagrees with you. They, or an ASE/Red Seal tech needs to install it to retain your warranty. This has literally been posted at least a few times already.

  • 3yr/36k mile Ford Performance Parts warranty from new vehicle in-service date when installed at a Ford dealer or by an ASE/Red Seal certified technician. Please contact the Ford Performance Parts Tech-line for warranty registration.
I know. It’s been beat to death. There are many examples of things that must be done by or through XYZ. Until I see examples of ford not warranting something because of this exact scenario……I wouldn’t go to the dealer. But you do you if it makes ya feel better. The main point here is that this is a very mild tune. You aren’t going to have engine trouble related to it.

Went through my first full tank since installing the FP tune and there's no material change in MPG.
Nice, of course I don’t really worry about MPG’s with this truck, but it kinda makes a “bonus” for the tune.

Thanks!

I agree too… I plan on trading in on a gen 4 after they’ve been out a couple years anyway. I really don’t care if it hinders the engines ability to get to 200k miles.

I might have a different opinion if this thing required bolt turning or something other than plug and play….but there is literally nothing you can do to alter what the tune is or how it functions. I can almost guarantee that 99% of ford techs and dealers have not seen one of these let alone installed it. One of my two local dealers had never even activated the add-on key pad code entry.

My 22 is going in Wednesday for an oil change and five tire rotation. I asked the service writer about the tune and she didn't know anything about it. Then she said they don't do any performance work. She did say she would ask the tech. Are only certain dealers authorized to install this tune?

No, simply need to be ASE or Red Seal certified. Doesn’t have to be a Ford dealer.

Punctuation lacking.

That being said, I’ll have to look at mine and see. Now I’m curious.

And that right there is the problem. Most dealers and their staff are complete idiots. They will sell you the vehicle and do routine maintenance and repairs….but beyond that, I wouldn’t let em touch it if it was something I can do. Like plug in a tuner.
