Ah, so if you want to have a for real drain plug, which Ford's vaunted "automotive engineers" decided was too advanced a concept to make a standard feature ("Oh no, it'll ad 50 cents to the cost of the truck!"), you have to spend over a hundred dollars to get what should have been on the truck from the get-go.

I bought a Mag-Hytec differential cover. It's aluminum, so it won't rust. It has (GASP!) a drain plug. It has a magnet on the drain plug and another on the end of the (GASP!) dip stick. I wouldn't give Ford the F'ing satisfaction of buying from them what should have come standard on every vehicle they sell.

It’s actually a couple hundred bucks. I wish it was only 100 bucks. But that’s okay. I have the coolest diff cover in the Starbucks parking lot.

oh child lol....

you can tell your version of offroad is the starbucks parking lot.
that was painful to read.

Get real bro. If you're doing that kind of rock crawling you're not doing it in a Raptor. And even if you were, the stock covers are stamped steel. And there's a million other things that would need covers/skids before the diff cover became an issue.

i am real bro. im not saying the stock one isnt good. never said anything like that.

im saying that an aluminum will be weaker for bashing against rocks and other objects. its a fact sir, you can crab ass at me all you want. doesnt make it not a fact.

the rear diff is super super super open to simply reversing on the trail man. funny stuff dude. parking bricks are pretty low, so i can see where you wouldnt think it would be an issue.

I'd take a heavy duty aluminum one vs. the stamped steel stocker any day. Wouldn't take much to tear a hole in the stocker.

And as for backing into giant rocks on the trail... maybe be aware of your surroundings and don't do that??? No cover is idiot proof.

i would rather have an aluminum one to drive on paved roads too.

Well, I'm disappointed that the video did not clarify if the friction modifier is required or not since that was never solved in any of the other prior differential threads :)

2014 manual states no friction modifier. Besides most all modern synthetic gear oils already have friction modifier in them.

I was just being sarcastic as everything you mentioned has been argued for and against. Thanks for posting it though...
