Not sure if Ford upgraded the very poor quality of their lug nuts. They are kinda like my old nuts which swell with time. Much better off going after market to a quality pair of black nuts.

@Oldfart I believe changed his out and knows the brand and place to get them.
McGard 64074. They are a little pricey, but nobody has had any issues with them. If anyone would like close up pics of my nuts, pm me. :secret:

Here's a thread about the lug nuts and their issues. https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/lug-nut-choice-gorilla-mcgard-something-else.76734/

I have the same black nuts that Oldfart referenced from my 2019 that I’ll be swapping at the first tire rotation. The finish holds up pretty darn well and most importantly they don’t swell to the point you have to chisel them off.

Got mine at Summit for $114

I was actually searching black lug nuts in here yesterday. Amazing that a small change can make such a big difference! Definitely going to do the same…if my truck ever comes in lol. Would you mind posting link or part # to order?

Looks great. I have the black OEM lugs from CJ Pony Parts on my 2019. Are the 2021+ lug nuts the same?

Any idea what the black coating is? I’ve had some black lugs that look terrible after just a couple wheel rotations. Wondering if these will hold up? Thanks!
The description from Ford Performance:
  • Ford Performance Parts Black Lug Nuts use Physical Vapor Deposition technology (PVD) which provides a scratch and wear resistant finish that ensures a perfect look for an extended period of time under intense use and provides surface wear resistance that cannot be provided by electroplating, anodizing or lacquer.
I had these same lug nuts on my 2017 Raptor. They survived 18 tire rotations and looked as good as new. The key is to use a non-marring 21MM impact socket and a torque wrench to do the final tighten. Tire places will use a 13/16 socket (which is slightly smaller) and over torque them with their impact guns. Over time this will tear up the finish and cause them to loose their shape (swell).
