Honestly people buying a luxury SUV, buy it in part for the quality and amount of interior features. At least most common folk. Myself it would be a combination of the interior and powertrain.

Most truck people buy a truck based on powertrain, body and frame ratings etc. The interior trim comes after this. Hell if it was interior we all might be in Rams right now vs. Raptors. If that doesn’t send shivers. But we chose the powertrain, chassis and body first over the interior.

Now my question is, maybe Ford should have just removed the P R D M altogether from the shifter and avoided complaints about lack of lighting. People then would be trained to look at the dash and not down, which is never good when driving.

Car n Driver ripped Ford for the high price and cost cutting interior used on new 2020 Escape. After seeing the Escape in person at Houston auto show this past weekend I will agree with car and driver. That interior looked like something you would see in early 2000’s. I’m sure these cost cutting and high price tags will start to make its way into most Ford vehicles.
The Ford GT I must say did look top notch but that’s a car that was green lit before current boss.

You can spend $50K on a Kia with every conceivable option that will rust out and fall apart before the warranty is up or $50K on a Mercedes with no options that will be solid for years to come.

Kias are pretty damn good nowadays, and Mercs are total junk like they've been for the last 20 years.

SIL bought used out of warranty Mercedes convertible last summer- not sure what year, looks like a 2014 or so. The top didn't make it a full year before it stopped working. $1500+ for one part, and they might need more, plus labor. BIL is not happy.

Stop buying it if you think it's too cheap. Go buy a truck from a company that didn't cheap out. Remind me which company that is again?

Ford benchmarks their trucks and does consumer studies. They make them as nice as they have to.

I am sure they pocket good profit on these trucks. I can only imagine how much on the Raptor and considering they normally get there price for them.

I guess while I can complain about not getting a better premium stereo, but my ‘19 has the lighted USB ports and adjustable center console cup holders. So maybe I’m just not that pissed lol

he he... :)

Every year Ford gets sneaky with cutting corners:

- For 2019 Ford went with cheaper seats (less leather on the sides, more fabric)
- Around MY18 Ford removed the ability to change interior backlight color (earlier trucks had the ability to change the color, newer trucks have blue only)
- Around MY18-19 Ford also removed two LEDs on side mirrors (earlier trucks had 4 LEDs on each mirror, newer trucks have only 2)

Only makes me wonder that are the changes under the hood that we don't know about yet.

Go ahead and mess my day up now lol

Yea I was aware of this. But added digital gauges and measurements. I’ll take the telemetry over the colored lights anyway however. This is an addition that Raptor folks like! I guess they try to improve in ways but save in others.
