with as much testing that goes on with these trucks, I dont see them releasing an aluminum truck that will fail.

Probably true, but then again a lot of people didn't see them releasing an Explorer equipped with defective tires that caused a major rollover epidemic.

Yea, apparently since 2004 on all the F150 hoods. Didn't realize that.

That makes perfect sense!

Every single 99-03 f150 and expedition, and 04 heritage/Lightning had an aluminum hood. I believe even the 97-99 did too.

Ford gets ready to unveil the aluminum F-150 - Jan. 2, 2014

Hey, that looks a lot like the Ford Atlas concept truck that's been posted on this website for months. Who knew it would be aluminum-ized and would weigh as much as 700 pounds less than the current F150?

Good analogy! What did Ford's Explorer have to do with Firestone's tires being defective?

Why not
It just has to be done more expensively
Alluminum to chromoly should benpossible for an expert welder
And the cage should pass thrue the body work and welded to the frame bars

Imo not impossible
Just more €€€€ needed

It was no epidemic, I watched a program about it where a test team drove the Explorer at different speeds, purposely blew out a tire, purposely swerved and swerved the SUV and could not get the thing to roll over, all while being on the road of course.

Sounds like they tried that where the first model A mercedes failed
That thing fell over after 3 turns

They fixed it

Usualy something to do with suspension and swaybar setup
