AFAIK, it wasn't a decision to *not* badge the 6.2, just that it couldn't get through the 'process' in time. Clearly they exist as shown in the new pics.

Interesting... with all the time that they had to wait on the new Boss, ya think they would have figured the badging out. There is a guy on another forum that is making high quality copies from billet aluminum that look exactly like the ones in the pictures. He has many finishes available, and paint options as well. Is anyone interested, I think I have his web site written down somewhere. They are 60-65 bucks apiece, which is higher than heck... but these things look great. I guess you get what you pay for.

I was going to buy a set for the Roundup, but they weren't ready in time.

I still think the reason NOT to badge the 6.2 is that IS the motor the truck was designed for! Why badge it when these will be the majority? May was well badge the 5.4? Just my thought.

Not having enough time is what ultimately was the issue. We looked at a lot of ideas to differentiate the 6.2L vs. the 5.4L including an engine badge. We also consider branding the 6.2L engine but ultimately decided against it. Once we focused our attention on the engine badge we pushed to have it ready in time for the 2010MY 6.2L launch but it wasn't containable within our quality processes. It takes longer than you would probably guess for the design, tooling and testing of a new badge.

As you know we showed a 6.2L badge at SEMA last year - we did that to get some customer feedback. While it's not the best kept secret, I will confirm that the 2011MY F-150 SVT Raptor 6.2L will have a 6.2L badge on the driver and pass doors - very similar to the 6.2L badge at SEMA. We made some very subtle design tweeks to the badge after SEMA, but it looks almost identical.

For those wanting to add the 6.2L badge themselves to their 2010 6.2L Raptor - it'll be available thru your Ford Dealer parts dept for a reasonable price around the time the 2011MY Raptor hits the Dealer lots.

Mark, I have a question for you:

Will you and Ford be working on increasing the production of the Raptor going forward? I know the Raptor provides manufacturing challenges that currently limit production quantities but I think "if you build them they will come".

If Ford makes more and sells more then we all win

Good question. It's something we're analyzing but we have no announcements at this time. We did increase the capacity after the 5.4L launch.

In the US, the 6.2L F-150 SVT Raptor is selling in 8 days on average! It's also a big hit in Canada and our export markets. The Raptor has been the hottest selling car or truck since launch. Regarding capacity, I think there's a fine balance between building too many or not enough. We've always wanted to limit the production on the Raptor, like Ford has done on other SVT products. We want the SVT vehicles to be truly special and not over saturate the market. I like the Ferrari strategy of building 1 less than demand.

The F-150 SVT Lightning was considered a huge success and despite the lower industry sales and tough economy this year we'll sell more F-150 SVT Raptors than our best year of Lightning sales. Pretty amazing.

We're going to make sure that we continue to keep the Raptor fresh - this includes adding the 6.2L, SuperCrew and more....

Mark - When is Ford going to start advertising the Raptor more aggressively -I haven't seen a single add for them here in south Texas. Is the answer that it selling faster than you can make them without any ads? Or that you're targeting your ads to the highest sales areas, such as the western desert region, so i just don't see them down here in the muddy, redneck, monster truck, corner of the world? Thanks for the wonderful truck, the standard side impact air bags, and all of the great work that Ford has done!

Flounderstalker - thanks for your Raptor purchase. Our marketing has been very targeted and focused on hard core off-roaders and we haven't done any "mass" media or tv ads on Raptor anywhere. Given our constrained Raptor capacity and limited marketing budgets in this tough economy it makes more sense to focus our advertising $'s on the base F-150.

We're doing a lot of targetted experiential marketing including off-road truck races, NASCAR, Monster Jam Monster Truck events, and action sports. We also had Raptor with the driving simulator at some major auto shows and invited select off-roading folks in for a closer look at it's capabilities.

As you folks know the truck does amazing in virtually any off-road terrain - mud, snow, trails, etc. We entered F-150 SVT Raptor last year in the TAWA (Texas Auto Writers Assoc.) Truck Rodeo and we were very honored to come away with the top award - the prestigious Truck of Texas. The auto writers commented that it was the ultimate truck for getting across a ranch quickly and comfortably. Given that TX buys nearly 20% of all full size pickups - we focus a lot of attention making sure we satisfy the pickup loving Texans. I worked in Ford's TX regional office prior to my current position and I try to return to TX several times a year. The top markets are just as we expected prior to launch - Vegas, Phoenix, TX and SoCal.

Just having folks like you drive the truck around town creates a lot of awareness and excitement as people see the truck and want to know what it's all about. Thanks - you're helping with our advertising!
