It's not ********.

EDITED: TMI

I felt my original post (post #6) revealed too much about "the process," so I deleted it. Wilson and MajorAR got to read it and based on their replies, I'd say that they agreed.

Just take my word for it when I say that the dealership allocation limitations are not BS.

One key thing to note is that the linked article from the OP is essentially saying that the dealerships are asking for more allocation (aka more production from manufacturer)... it's not saying that they're getting more than their allocation.

Is there a name for this kind of posting? I dont know what to call it. :rage:

Not sure what is true and what is not. I will say my dealer has over 150 2013 F150's on their lots and is getting more from other dealers. What does that mean...... Who knows.

If I was in the market for a new f150, it wouldn't be the old style id be racing to buy.

I personally think the old style will be old news and less desired when the new one comes out causing a surplus in high priced used vehicles.

Everything is allocated based on sales volume.

P.s. I was calling b.s. on the article. Mainly because everyone on here and my dealer has tried to drive home how everything is allocated and they have no say in getting more if they tried.

I have also been told that dealer allocation and sold unit allocation are 2 different things.

I ordered mine, probably the only vehicle I will ever order like this, so it just better get here is all I ask.

Don't forget there is dealer transfer as well. My dealer told me he got over twenty Raptors through dealer transfer last year.

All vehicles are allocated and sold wholesale to the dealerships once a month. The allocation number for each vehicle model is primarily based on three things:
  • The current dealership inventory for that model.
  • How long that model generally sits on the dealer lot before selling.
  • Current Ford production/availability for that model.
Dealerships don't always agree on the number of each vehicle that is allocated to them, so a lot of negotiating takes place between a Ford representative and the Ford dealerships. Raptor is a subset of F-150 allocation, so it plays by a slightly different set of rules. One thing that's for certain is that dealerships aren't turning down any Raptor allocation and they're asking for more/extra. Ford has increased Raptor production, but it's been done ever so carefully and after much consideration of many factors.
