Ford dealer feedback on gen 3 ADM

Hi all and happy new year,

I just spoke to a dealer in California who will not go below a $15k ADM on an incoming 2021. He said they normally get an allocation of 20-30 Raptors but have 4 this year as they are prioritizing other F150s right now and ordering one with another dealer will take at least 6 months.

He also said it does not matter how you spec it, the delays are across the entire range of trucks. What do you guys think on this? Is it all 100% valid? It seems as if enough of you are getting MSRP pricing and the delays are across the board for the most part.

That's probably true if you talk to any dealer in California, but that's last years truck, 22's are already being delivered. You need to shop around, maybe fly across the country and save your money.

I agree, I have a truck ordered at MSRP and a priority code of 10, just hearing all the stories on here I don’t know if that means I can expect a truck at all or in 6/12/18 months so still searching for anything that maybe sooner or guaranteed.

The hard truth is that none of us here really knows. @03'Darin works for ( or did) a stealership and might be able to shed some light on things. As everyone knows, CA is its own micro-economy with its own rules, regulations and intricacies that are far different from the rest of the USA. These complications make car sales within that state very difficult to navigate.

The dealer in question is making a calculation that they can sell that truck for MSRP+ and at 15k ADM, they’re probably shooting for a floor of +5k, but it’s difficult to say without knowing more. They could be in a position to make the sale, or they could be smoking crack or somewhere in between.

It’s a sign of the times though because inventory has been destroyed over the last 2 years for all manufacturers.

There’s a lot of similarities with the Raptor market and the ammunition market. The latter sell their bulk orders to distributors, who sell to retailers and contracts. Distributors currently have ammunition and there is quite a bit of demand but prices have been trending downward for about 3 months. The reason it’s not trending downward more is that the distributors are sitting on inventory riding out the “shortage”. Manufacturers are cranking out common calibers, but it’s getting bought up quickly. There’s more complexity to it, but the key assertion I’m making here is that there IS ammunition available and ready for shipment, it’s not out, it’s not short, it is available.

Here, the stealerships are ordering trucks but delivery has been scant. Ford has missed repeated deadlines on the Bronco, Raptor and could very well abandon the Raptor R. They can’t fulfill the orders they have. Last I read online, the F150 Lightning was 2 YEARS backordered.

Ford has definitely created some buzz and demand, but, their failure to deliver has sent shoppers elsewhere. Look at how many potential Raptor buyers abandon ship and bought a TRX. This is money Ford lost to a competitor.

The stealership is not always a reliable information source. I’d say if you get similar data from 2 or more additional stealerships, there may be some truth to it.

Honestly... I’ve seen more Jen Tres than Broncs. I hope you’re right and the ramp up will be fast, with decent QA.

This market is definitely no fun.

I don't think anyone has purchased a raptor at a California dealership for MSRP, unless you have a personal relationship with the dealer
