MMDan,

Not disagreeing with you, but "better" is a rather broad term. To some, better means neon interior lighting and other things that affect only the "look" or "feel" of the vehicle. Personally, I think that trucks, particularly 4x4 trucks, and most particularly 4x4 trucks that are optimized for high speed off road travel, are much more about function and capability than they are about look and feel. But that's me. I don't understand the luxury package on the Raptor. To me it's sort of like a combat knife in a mink sheath.

I total understand the lux package. You get the best of both worlds. A nice truck for everyday use that you can go have fun with on the weekend It's exactly what SVT designed the Raptor for. Why have two different trucks when one will do. That's half the problem now days everybody thinks they need 6 different things to get the same job done.

So it's a concept, designers have a tendency to go overboard.
But the roof makes perfect sense for a work truck!
I LIKE IT!

The Raptor is an F150 that was modified in ways that enabled Ford to meet a number of requirements including but not limited to: building it on the F150 assembly line, using most of the F150 parts, meet Federal Regs, etc.

The "optimized for high speed off road travel" stuff is, at the end of the day, a compromise of what could have been offered by Ford because of all the requirements they had to meet with the truck.

While you may expect more "function and capability than...look and feel" others want the truck for street driving (and others use it as a garage queen which is their preference). As for the luxury package it's a part of the Ford F150 parts bin and, perhaps most important for them, helps them justify the high price they charge so they can make big profit (because that's what it's all about for every vehicle maker).

The good news is Raptor owners can modify the hell out of their vehicles and make them as purpose-built as their budgets (and wives) can allow. :pokeowned:
