Was rolling in the Gen3 and Pinball Wizard by The Who came up in my Spotify queue. The whole intro was played solely via the headrest speaker.

Not sure if that is based on my speaker settings, EQ, or whatever, but it happened. Really the only time I have heard the headrest speakers outside of phone calls.

On a road trip i found that there appears to be 2 speakers in each headrest. One on the left side and one on the right side. If you adjust the audio to the rear you can hear the headrest better just to verify. I dont think the headrest speakers are supposed to be loud enough to overpower the other speakers but im not by any means a audio person.

its just for a more rounded sound. if they were as loud as the rest you would only hear those.

Meh..aftermarket system ftw ;)
I used to love aftermarket systems 15+ years ago, but have been out of that game since then. My question is, can the factory head unit, steering wheel volume controls, etc. be retained if you go all out with replacing the speakers, adding subs, amps, capacitor, etc? I think an aftermarket head unit would look cheap in something as expensive as a Raptor.

Absolutely, here is the route I am taking.

I'll be doing my install this Sat. Eventually I'll be replacing the highs/mids with even better ones.
Hertz CKs 6.5 Comps and 6.5 Coaxial in rear
Sundown Audio Salt 200.4
Gately Enclosure with four 8" Gately Relentless Subs
Sundown Audio Salt-4 @.5 ohms
Next Level 64ah Lithium Battery

I read on here that the Gen2's B&O change tuning as they get louder. They lose bass as they get louder to keep from distorting. Will this device help with that as well as converting to analog? (all here-say to me I have no knowledge how it really works)

Have not heard that so if so I am oblivious. It sends a flat single out to amps and is a pretty common and supposedly the best way to do it. For the price, it should be.
