Wanted to see what everyone had/suggested in terms of fog lamps. I was going to order the Rigid Industries LED kit for my ‘18, but seems you can’t find them and everyone selling them is telling me they’ll take months to deliver. Just seems like a situation where I’ll give out an interest free loan and I’m not into that. :)

What other good clean fitting options are out there? Any DOT approved? That would be a bonus so inspections run smoothly.

You’re in VA, so if it is mounted or permanently attached to the vehicle, it must either work and be DOT approved, no more than 4 forward facing lights on at any time, and fogs/drivers must go off with high beams on OR be covered with a permanent light cover that obscures the light ( don’t try to cheat with a colored lens ).

Easy to deal with for most lights.

You don’t need a bracket, you can use 2” angle aluminum or steel and make one yourself. I had aluminum and used that; cut a couple 14” long pieces, milled and drilled down to size and then started adding lights.

Options: go cheap.
get some 2” cubes you can get some covers for on Amazon.

these are probably just a bit too bright, but something along these lines might be usable on the street

aimed properly so as not to blind oncoming drivers.

Go big:

Rigid makes an SAE / DOT approved light at about $200, pretty spendy for what you get.

Rigid makes some good options, as does Baja Designs, if you’re willing to entertain easy financing terms or perhaps take out a 2nd mortgage. B/D also advertises a scratch and dent sale once in a while so keep your eyes open for that too.

I went with the not DOT approved / covered option for inspection.

buy once, cry once.
The B/D cubes throw a lot of light and throw it a long way.

Good luck !

The Baja Designs lighting kits have been our most popular option and what we've run on our shop truck in the past.

That said, the Rigid kit is not a bad option. And just for the record, it will not take months to deliver. They're three weeks out, I just spoke to the folks at Rigid about this yesterday.

Are you more concerned about on-road lighting, off-road lighting, or a mix of both? Depending on your answers will allow us to help figure out which lighting setup is best for your needs. Let us know if we can help get you setup!
