FMIC Vs Stock location

If I want to install a winch which I do, then it's my understanding that to do so with the stock bumper I have to install a FMIC.

So will a Cobb FMIC work with the Swarf works winch mount for the stock 2019 Raptor?

And can't one install a 170° Thermostat to help alleviate any overheating from the radiator being partially blocked?

I have the Cobb stage 2 with the Swarfworks hidden winch mount and Warn Zeon Platinum 12K winch. The Swarfworks setup has been great and everything fits and looks like it came from the factory that way. I had a hidden winch mount on my older raptor and was going to swap bumpers on this one, but all of the ACC relocation issues pushed me to just stick with the stock look. I don't have any clearance issues that I'm worried about so this fits the bill perfectly.

If you think you might want the winch, the install for the FMIC and winch can be done together to save a bunch of time. I hated the thought of disassembling the entire front of the truck twice and was able to install both in a day along with a few other items without issues.

I do plan on doing this along with Geiser springs in the front and Deaver's HD +4 in the rear and many Overland modifications when I retire in 4 years as long as the truck proves worthy which I'm sure it will as I believe in keeping up with maintenance. Even thinking about 5,000 mile oil changes vs. 7,500. Not sure on that just yet.

If I understand you correctly, with the Cobb FMIC and the Swarfworks mounted with the Warn Zeon winch you didn't have to relocate the ACC. Correct?

I am running the Cobb FMIC and Cobb stage 2 on my 19 with the Cobb and ADD hybrid ACC relocation bracket as we learned the Cobb doesn’t work with the 19 ACC and the ADD doesn’t work with the Cobb FMIC. Once I got this sorted out (thanksNick) I have no complaints my truck runs great ! I also have had no issues with the ACC still works as it did before relocation and didn’t need to recalibrate. I even dropped the damn thing and thought I was screwed. If you don’t switch bumpers no need to worry about the bracket but what fun is that :) overall my temps are way way lower

this is also a great point. Higher intake temps dont really matter if you're not under any load or boost lol
Treu, but your IC core heats up too, and this heat has to be cooled down first, before the IC gets effective again. Hence the fans.

By the way, with an FMIC the fans of the radiator will draw air through it, so the fans / no fans discussion is not a real issue.

The FMIC heated air temperature to the radiator is a real issue. We all know manufacturers nowadays size components critical (as small as possible to work) for cost savings. So in extreme conditions (towing uphill hot weather) it is not impossible a FMIC will cause problems.

Im going to do the stock replacement one so it draws the least amount of attention if they try some warranty shennigans. Plus Ive heard they perform plenty well.

I agree - while your IAT's may drop w/ a big ass FMIC, your warranty is more suspect right off the bat - & I'm still not convinced that while you may be reducing IAT's that you're not simultaneously impeding engine cooling by sandwiching that huge IC in between the rad & grill......so yeah, would prefer a stock location unit as well that requires no modification to the truck, doesn't block cooling to the engine, & won't raise the service dept's eyebrows.

Yep, the stock location replacement would be tough for a dealer to void a warranty over when it could be easily proven its more efficient and nothing was modified other than adding a larger cooler per se, and it remains in the stock location, citing your example of them saying it blocked the radiator or some other outlandish excuse they would give.

I mean I looked at it this way- it’s not different than putting a Timken replacement wheel bearing instead of OEM or using Brembo brakes vs fomoco etc

No relocation required with the Cobb, Swarfworks, and stock bumper. The youtube videos are pretty good and give you an idea of the mod and what it looks like afterward.
