You may all call me a peasant for this, but I bought my Raptor CPO-- one of the things I did not notice before I bought it was that it looked like the previous owner was a rather large individual who slid out of the driver's seat vice getting out of the vehicle. The left side of the driver seat is pretty much almost completely collapsed. I know this is pretty common, but this is the first truck I've owned.

I'm on my way to perfecting all the little faults and foibles that caused my Raptor to be so inexpensive CPO, and this is the next one on the list.

FRF, what is your suggestion for fixing the slump?

On an aside, I wish I had the orange leather seats....I've seen KatSkinz is pretty good but I'm on the fence...

Oh, and since I always include a picture of my truck, here's one from a nice sunset a couple nights ago!

I’ve reshaped seats by peeling the leather and adding meticulously shaped pieces of slightly harder foam. But it’s not super easy. I recommend a belt sander and an extension cord. Do it outside for step one. After that, look underneath. See what’s there. If it’s crushed and broken, cut before you rebuild. Then you need to match the type. If you throw hard foam over soft you accelerwear the part you attach to. They picked the foam hardness for a reason. Don’t get tempted. Add small pieces with spray glue and round the edges where it fits the seat.

Sounds like a bit of a process, where did you find matching foam?

It’s as much of a process as you want to make it. Just saying shape is important and so is firmness. Don’t use a sleeping bag pad where you think your ass should go. If your ass is soggy (it is) then use soggy foam.

if you find rips and separated foam, you can shoot glue in and wrap a few sections of a pair of old pants over it like a bandaid.

Bahaha, duly noted, Sir. I'll probably give it a go this weekend. I just need to find out where to pick up the foam. I'm more than willing to put the time in to make it right!

LOLWUT!? Peasants... they drive lesser vehicles. prius, bmw, lexus, infiniti, minivans and non AMG Mercs.

previous owner was a rather large individual who slid out of the driver's seat vice getting out of the vehicle.

I caught my wife doing that a couple times and asked her not to.
I slept comfortably on the couch for the next 2 nights but at least now she doesn’t use the seats as a slide to drop to the earth when she exits the truck.

I like the previous suggestions, but don’t have direct experience with it. I do have experience with a motorcycle seat, which is much easier to manipulate. In that case I bought a cover from JC Whitney and used spare pillow foam to create a piece for the worn foam that got exposed from the previous owner.

it worked out great. You probably will want some fairly firm stuff, obviously it’s going to get a lot of wear.

You might check with an upholstery shop. They are usually very reasonable.

Post a pic of the offending seat.

here, on frf
order new foam from wherever you find, but get a new bottom foam pad and replace it. @B E N just did a writeup on a gen 1 foam replacement and it is very similiar to the gen 2 seat.

I was thinking the exact same thing. My dads 2007 Ram was doing the same thing a couple years ago , and I think it was around $100 for them to fix the seat. He has cloth seats so I don’t know if that makes a huge difference, but it still looks good today after they fixed it.

my used 18 is very similar. It bugs me, but I also assumed even replacement foam would breakdown quickly as well. Grats on the truck! I'm 100% on board with letting someone else take the big depreciation hit.

mind me asking year/mileage/price?
