What is the genaral opinion on here of the Ford Racing oil filter? I was thinking about picking some of those up when my Raptor is ready for its first oil change. I have read reviews on "Bob is the oil guy" that it is a good filter, with great filtering properties.
Sorry for the hijack.

I got the Ford filter because of the Bob is the oil guy thread. I didn't read much into it, but what I got out of it is that it is one of the best, if not the best filters on the market. If I hadn't gone this route I probably would have gotten a Mobil 1 filter, which is also top of the line quality from what I've read.

The key is high filtration combined with high flow... Exactly what the Ford racing filter is.

I have about 1100 miles on mine right now. I am drawing an oil sample tonight and will send that off for analysis tomorrow. I'll post the results as soon as I get them. It should be interesting to see what sort of manufacturing and break-in debris is in the oil. I did the same with my GT500 at 1000 miles and plan to keep doing it at each oil change to see what sort of things change and if I can start extending the intervals.

I’m one of the old school guys; I will handle this truck the same as every other new vehicle I owned.
After picking up the truck from the dealer I’ll also pick up a filter and oil; take the long way home and dump the hot oil, change the filter and refill with regular oil.
I’ll repeat that at 500 and 1000 miles; at 3000 miles the oil will be changed to synthetic.

cool, what was the results on your GT500?

I just looked at my report again and I actually pulled the sample when the car had 681 miles. I had also posted it on SVTPerformance in a consolidated oil analysis thread. Here is what the member that is tracking GT500 oil perfomance said about my report:

"Wear metals do not concern me on a break in fill, and will be ignored. Neither does silicon or oxidation. What does concern me is...

Viscosity: This sample has already sheared to a 40 grade lubricant (14.2 cSt @ 100*F) after only 680 miles of use. MC ****** viscosity is 19.9 cSt @ 100*F

TBN: Detergent additives are already down to less than 50%"

Since the report is for a GT500 running 5W50 full synthetic, the viscosity and additive values will be much different than what we'll see in our Raptors. But it will be intesting to compare the other numbers.
