It will be interesting with the 10 speed, but hands down my 12' F150 Eco (3.5L), wifes 14' and now 16' F150 Platinum Eco beats out the Raptor towing, strictly engine wise. 14' Raptor shifts often and even down to 3rd where the 3.5L Eco's typically stay around 6th and maybe 5th on the same hills. Tow an enclosed 10'x6' trailer with a riding lawn mover around to different rentals with the various trucks.
Have a ~10K travel trailer (loaded) with weight dist. hitch and the 3.5L handles it very well. Feels a bit light in the front end at times, but was passing 1 and 3/4 ton diesels uphill with the Eco and TT.

A weight dist. hitch will probably work quite well for those towing often with the Raptor, else air bags.

Hmm my boat sounds a lot like yours. My bro gets his 17 screw in May(nov order msrp-$spray in bedliner) and we tow to the lake on some decent inclines just about every weekend JUL-SEPT. Will test them back to back.

I'm sure the motor is up to the task so does the gen 2 need deavers or expensive bump stop kit?

YAMAHA 242LS loaded with a full day of gear etc.

Honestly, I don't think so and I'm not planning on it. I've got a 20' Mastercraft X2 wakeboard boat and sure it sagged a bit but wasn't terrible. Hell, it was sagging a bit when I took my 35" Method wheels and tires to get put on.

Come next month, we'll be towing the boat down to NC and SC from Ohio with the bed full of gear too. When I hook the boat up next, I'll post some pictures.

Just curious, were you using Tow Mode in the Raptor, or just leaving it in Normal Mode?

Both.

Tow mode definitely helps, but all trucks have tow mode. I try to always use it when towing and sometimes forget. I wish once you put it in tow mode it just stays in tow mode until taken out. It goes back to normal mode when you turn off the truck.

The biggest key here is the torque/power curves. In the 3.5L Eco it's like 2500 RPM, where as in the 6.2L it is like 5500 RPM...so add 3000 RPM delay to get up to full power

agree on the softer springs.....much softer. Loaded a 'golden tee' full console game (~400 lbs) on it the other day and it squatted bad. disappointed. I'm going to put on my old RPG frame bump stop kit and go to the 4" bump stops when towing anything ( along with my Blue Ox WDH). Can't believe how much softer they are than the Gen 1 I had.
Wow... the gen 1 is soft! I installed wsi springs in mine.

Keep in mind for trailers with electric brakes, the Gen2 has 3 levels of brake engagement (soft, mid, hard) and soft is the default. So, before you begin to adjust for brake gain on the electronic trailer controller, might want to look at the brake effort setting in trailer mode.

Had a chance to pull my boat out last weekend to unwinterize it for the summer and the new truck towed it effortlessly. Minimal sagging and more than enough grunt to tug it up the ramp. Boat and trailer are around 6600# combined.
