I do less than 10,000 miles a year. Yeah, the fill up kind of sucks, but it’s a price I knew I’d have to pay. The Raptor with a 36 gallon tank and damn near 18mpg on the highway is really hard to beat.

I regularly saw the Distance Until Empty over 500 miles on the Raptor.
The TRX, well let’s just say we’re not getting close to that.

That’s the biggest hurdle for me. Last time I was getting 10-14 MPG, it was in a V10 Super Duty that I could at least justify because it was making money. I drive about as much as you or less with the truck, and it costs $100 to fill up once or twice a month with 93 at Costco.

So my Raptor build have been pushed about 5 weeks and I gave up my Power Wagon a couple weeks ago. I have the chance to pick up a TRX for MSRP and it's on the lot. Haven't driven either truck as I've owned 3 power wagons the past 4 years...

Raptor has more features but hard to pass up the extra horses. The TRX is 5000 more plus I would lose out on the tax savings from my trade in which comes out to another 4000.

Not sure the TRX is worth the 9000 difference
Get the TRX at MSRP. If you don't like it you could probably sell it for more than you paid for it.

I went from a 2012 Power Wagon to a 2020 Raptor to a 2021 TRX. Short answer, get the TRX. If you don’t like it, sell it next year for what you paid for it and get a Raptor.

Here are a few on road pictures. I’m hoping to play more in the dirt now that fall is quickly approaching and so is hunting season. So far it’s basically been a pavement princess for the first 1,100 miles. That will change after this weekend and we take the boat out of the water for the season. Maybe then I can start scouting for hunting season and get the truck a little dirty.

I typically don’t like silver vehicles but this one pulls it off IMO …. Congrats man and enjoy. I agree that for your needs and use this is the best option

I’m curious why you think the Hellcat engine is “next level”? Supercharged V8s making big power while getting **** poor fuel economy has been around since the 60s. I could’ve made the same power as the Hellcat with my 2004 Terminator and I could’ve put the parts on in my garage. That car came out 17 years ago BTW, which is to say nothing of the Trinity 5.8 from the 13-14 GT500, or any of GM’s S/C LS or LT motors.

What Ford accomplished by taking a medium displacement twin turbo V6 and making it reliable enough for truck duty, public consumption all while making 450 HP is next level. But hey, it doesn’t sound like a V8 so it’s obviously inferior.
the hellcat engine is not next level.
the hellcat engine in a truck is.

what other mass produced truck has had that sort of horsepower without being a gigantic truck. maybe the srt10.

Everyone should be happy that the big automakers are all making mass produced high
horsepower engines and sticking them in trucks. hell even jeep has the 392 now. And you know what? that is ******* awesome.

And yeah, you are right, the V8 sounds so much better than a V6. Regardless of horsepower.
I can appreciate a v6 that turns out 450hp. that is pretty cool. Still sounds like a tuned honda.

Funny how none of ya'll have an issue with ford putting the exact same engine in the next generation of raptor. Zero improvements. Sure it was great in 2017, but after 5 years they need to up the ante.

The problem with that is to up the horsepower now reliably they need to go to a bigger engine, which ruins the pretty great mpg the 2nd gen raptor gets.

But i'll give up mpg's for more horsepower any day. If I wanted good gas mileage I'd get a prius, or some other ***** car.

no doubt.

The problem I have is the new raptor doesn't move the needle enough for me to care, but that is before the R version comes out.

And the TRX is probably a tad too big for my garage. oh well.
