FINALLY got a TRUE, removable towing solution..(see pics)

RPG Stage 2 with the 4" bump stops. bolt on, easy on, easy off. 10 min

Let me start by saying I’m not affiliated with Izzy. I don’t make any money off this and only started this to help people that were in the same situation as me.....wanting a way to tow safely, without sacrificing the offroad capability of the truck. This of course eliminated airbags since that limits wheel travel immensely. The next solution is what you just mentioned (bump-stops). I was literally on the verge of getting this setup and was in contact with SVC about theirs. In that back and forth even the guy from SVC warned me about the ride. After all, we weren’t just towing a boat down the road to the boat ramp. We would be traveling around with this. Anyway, this is what I wrote about the bump stop solution here in a previous post:

“Something that should be clarified here is that a bump stop solution will ride like total $#it. A bump stop is made to be a failsafe and has very little travel (and is under a lot of pressure). Imagine what that would be like if you just put it higher. Trust me, this is the road I was going down and luckily never did. With this setup I don’t lose any wheel-travel so I can literally leave this on, take some pressure out of the shocks and still take it offroad if I wanted to.”

My suspension, when towing, cycles the same way it does when I’m not towing. It isn’t cycling only at the last few inches of a compressed shock and therefor isn’t damaging anything. So again, take into account what you’re going to do with it and go from there.

I must have missed the post where we are telling everyone they MUST get this. Pretty sure Gus talked about something that worked for him, and I’ve echoed that it works for me.

Towing with Izzy’s setup feels a lot like driving stock. My tongue weight is well over 1000lbs, and this setup keeps me level without any sacrifice of ride-quality or stock travel.

As for people who want to do the labor themselves...The parts and metal would run you about $900. Paying $700 for Izzy to come up with the idea, the geometry, and build the brackets is worth $700 imho. Anyone who disagrees is WELCOME NOT TO BUY IT.

I actually -like- driving my truck, so putting a long road trip together to visit Izzy is no big deal.

Seems like Izzy's best bet would be to license his idea to some people in other parts of the country. He could CNC the parts and sell them to the licensees, and give them a training class at their expense. Seems like there's plenty of business to have - geography is the only thing in the way of him making some easy money.

The thing is... most off-road fabrication shops can do exactly what Izzy has done, although he deserves every bits of credit and businesses from people who wants this to be installed on their Raptors. I just don’t see how he can “licensing ” it...

If he can patent it then he can license it. But who knows if he’s willing to go through the trouble.

Agree with the ride with the 4" bump stops when NOT towing, but in 10 mins, you switch back to the 2" and you are set again. You trailer set up is smaller than mine. Mine is a 34.5' 8K trailer. Pulled San Diego to NC and worked awesome with a WDH (Blue Ox). The RPG bump stop kit with the 4" is just too easy to 'tow or not'.

I agree licensing would be tough and ultimately not worth it. Others can do this, but it would be hard for me to trust just anyone with my trucks. Izzy can build a desert race truck from beginning to end, and I mean from the cage, to the gas tank......everything. So for me it was a no brainer to trust him to do it right.

I was actually referring to the ride when ON the bump stops. I know they’re non-existent when not towing. Can you post a picture of how your truck sits with the trailer hitched up (with your setup)?

It's not rocket science. You want someone reputable to do it, but that person doesn't have to be a race engineer.

Most of us just wanted Izzy to benefit from his work. He seems like a nice guy. But I think patience has worn thin in that regard and if he's not interested enough or willing to put in the effort toward making his solution widely available, then it's probably time that he forfeit any right to complain about someone else copying it.
