Just buy that wax made for black vehicles & rock it until you really scratch it up, and keep buying lottery tickets & hope you become that lucky SOB that can afford to do a wrap in the future. Or check with Navy (or what branch you're in) to see if they will do a Wrap for you; hey they support NASCAR why not ask them support a actual member of their own service. I'm sure sporting Navy logo wrap on a Raptor will surely help recruitment.

To answer the question, I think the wrap would be close enough to be worth it. If it was me, I'd just buy a roll of that vinyl (online, not from a business) and wrap them yourself. You can buy a roll of 24"x10yds of vinyl for around $30, maybe a little more if it's got metallic in it.

On a side note, I have some satin black vinyl I've contemplated using on my fenders and bumper to cover up the charcoal.... But I kind of dig the charcoal too, so not sure what I'll end up doing.

you sure can buy some cheap vinyl online, and its just that, I will tell you from my experience wrapping fiberglass fenders, the cheap stuff being recommended sucks, you will have to over stretch it to get it to lay down, and the black will dis-color when that happens.

if you going to do it, pony up for the good stuff , 3m, Avery, or Hexis or Oracal you will alot happier with the end result, and those brands will also allow you to pick up the vinyl and reset it if needed, where the cheap stuff has a very aggressive adhesive and will not pick up well, and will not be able to be removed when you want the vinyl off, without alot of elbow grease.
again just from experience.

Just rock em unpainted until you save a bit more for paint. Plus if you wrap the fenders you wont have to worry about dirt on the edges as it wont have a seam on the exterior.

The vinyl I speak of is Avery brand. I've used it to wrap stuff and with a little bit of heat it wraps pretty easily and doesn't distort the color.
