Feedback on Goodyear Duratrac Tires

I've got a set of black Venomrex 602s inbound to replace the stock beadlocks on my 2019 truck. I'm keeping the stock package mounted in the event I want to go back at some time as I really like them but looking to switch it up a little for now, going a bit more agressive.

My truck is 99% street driven, perhaps 16k miles a year. Looking at Duratracs now. The huge weight saving with the 602/Duratracs is appealing, but what about street manors compared to the stock tires? I've also heard Duratracs can be difficult to balance, and can be loud. I do rotate tires with each 5k mile oil change so hopefully that would help with noise.

I've run a few sets and never had a problem with balancing. Currently running them on my Raptor and my 92 Bronco. They are a little louder than the stock KO2s, but if you rotate them on schedule they shouldn't get real loud. They are better than the KO2's in snow, rain, mud and appearance.

I ran them on my Wrangler. My 2 door had 33s and my 4 door had 35s. I always liked them, but don't have much to compare to. I rotated every 5,000.

I've ran them for years and swear by them..esp for winter driving. About as aggressive as u can get for an AT. Go great in snow, ice, slop, and all but deep mud.

For me they have always had excellent road manners. Esp on the interstate. Never an ounce of hydroplaning (siped very well). The sidewalls have a little more give and are softer than others with same load rating which give it a softer/smoother ride compared to other aggressive AT/MT/hybrid tires.

Never had balancing issues. Just one new one that failed road force which got replaced under warranty.

They do start producing some decent hum once u get down to about 11-12/32's.

If you need the winter performance and want aggressive while having great on road characteristics they cant beat.

However if you dont need something that aggressive. I can say I recently ran a set of cooper at3 xlt on my 2500 and was extremely impressed. Amazingly quiet, very smooth, just about as good of a AT tire u can get for everyday 3 season driving. But not even close to the duratrac in terms of offroad or winter performance.

With all the above in mind, discount tire direct has an exclusive tire by goodyear called the ultraterrain. Their salesman told me it was basically their version of a new and improved duratrac.

Havent tried them personally but have heard good things.

I guess I ...want... more than need a tire more aggressive than the stock KO2s. Virtually all highway driving. Looking for something that will be reasonable on the road and thinking of switching it up this time. Duratracs are especially appealing due to weight and look.

Interesting. I ran duratracs on my gen1 for 40K and I really like them. I just looked up the ultraterrain and it only comes in 35 X12.50R17 and E rated weighing 68 pounds.

The KO2s are better than the Duratracs so there's no reason to run these. If you already own em then drive em bald and go back to the KO2s

What he said. I've been running them for years and are my preferred tire.

Sorry to disagree. I've replaced the KO2s on three different trucks now with Duratracs because I hated the KO2s so much. Don't perform as well in the rain and snow in my opinion.
