I have read on more than 1 forum about issues with the factory Fox Shox's and it wasn't from someone beating them up off-road was just from failure for whatever reasons. Are these just average shocks with Fox name on them or Ford Racing shocks with Fox on them or are they just not made good.

While my truck is still new and low mileage I like to know these things up front

I'm always upgrading the suspension on my Mustangs from factory but I was expecting the Fox Shox's to be quality stuff

Any coil over type shock requires regular maintenance. Shocks have a service interval just like any other component it's nothing to do with the quality of the shock.

These are shocks built by fox spacificaly for ford to put on the raptor. While they're great shocks for everyday use and off road driving if you plan to do any hard off road stuff it would be a good idea to upgrade your suspension. Just like you upgraded your mustang for i assume better traction and better handling that's the same reason you would upgrade it on a raptor better handling softer rides more control. And like stated above shocks have maintanance as well and will eventually need to be rebuilt depending on use and miles.

There are two issues I have had with my stock 2.5s. The first is corrosion, which is due mostly to the use of road salt here in the Northeast. The second is that the fronts started leaking at 70 k miles, this isn't bad considering that Fox recommends a rebuild every 10k. Overall, the factory Fox shocks perform well in most situations. Could they be better? Sure. I'm guessing this is why the 2017's will come with 3.0s.

The thing to keep in mind, is that even if you upgrade to, well anything, you will still have to deal with these same issues.

I know all of this but what some owners have said was this issue was on brand new trucks not ones with 45k or 75k miles. Shocks have a life span and that's it I get that just trying to get some questions answered.

Man, I thought my suspension was expensive on the Mustangs its double the cost on the Raptor lol... oh well. I sold a couple cars as wasn't using them and will get 5 times the fun out of the Raptor instead

As long as you're aware of the issues, you should be fine. Clean the shocks regularly and apply a good lubricant/film protection often. That should help with cosmetic end of it.
