Exhaust rattle on cold start?

Experiencing the same, it’s very annoying….embarrassing on an $80k truck…it only started Happening as it got cold out (N. Virginia). any idea on a fix? Are these one off issues or design flaws?

My dealership looked at it, they are almost certain it’s a bad exhaust valve. They have a call into Ford for a fix.

I just got a NEW Gen 3 myself… my god is the noise annoying.

Gen 2 doesn’t have same rattle us G3 guys are talking about… It’s basically undeniably a loose exhaust valve design.

If your in the car when it’s rattling and ever so slightly raise the RPM creating air flow, through exhaust it goes away.

For guys who don’t know what it sounds like…. It sounds like taking a small 6mm wrench and tapping it against the bottom of your exhaust during cold start.

I believe the valves close during remote start/ cold start… aka (QUIET MODE) and that’s what the culprit is But my god is it AN EMBARASSING SOUND out of a $85,000+ truck

Ya it’s not pretty lol. My only real complaint so far.

I have this same issue. Only happens in normal mode. It sounds like the valve is not properly seated when set to normal. I will let you know what my rep says.

They ordered me new mufflers but I have not received them yet. I’ll update when they put them in

Ok, they replaced my mufflers and my noise is gone. My truck is now also much quieter in normal and quite mode but still pretty close in Baja very happy. Now to figure out the clunk noise and I’m good.
