So no heat issues with the exhaust that close to the tire? I am thinking of doing this to my truck since I just replaced the resonator with a straight pipe and it sounds better, but not quite "powerful" enough.

No heat issues. I checked mine yesterday after seeing this thread. Drove about 50 miles, 85 degrees here, spare tire never got warm.

Dump it, it's the cleanest look, and most practical for Off Road.

Dumped, no resonator, stock muffler. See on Youtube

I got a little drone/more exhaust noise at 2000 rpm with just the resonator delete. However, when I chopped the exhaust after the axle the drone went away and the sound got quieter under low load/cruse. It now sounds raspier and deeper than stock when starting it up and under heavier throttle.
All in all, this is how the truck should have sounded stock. A little meaner, but not louder and no drone. Makes for a great sounding truck with no impact on daily drivability.

For some reason I can't get the Youtube embedded feature to work... a little help?
