From the cover it looks like the center pin came loose from spiders started walking out , thrashed cover. That chewed up slot lines up with about where pin is.

Nope, never seen a Differential blow thru a cover, but I did put 2 Rods thru the Block and Oil pan of my 383 stroker motor, and that wasnt a pretty sight either.>!!:bawl:
Sounds like I caught my whining sound BEFORE I got to the mess you got.Had a bad bearing and small chip on gear...had entire Differential rebuilt for $1200,which I thought was a good price, and put a Dana Cover on,so if it ever does blow will it be contained .. ;)

Nice, if your gonna do it do it right. LOL

Cooked all the inner bearings at 20,000 miles, had it warrantied, thank goodness, it was close to $3 grand to replace everything.
Now I have an AFE cover and Mobil 1 gear oil, all is good now.

If it gets too expensive there is always a full float rear end that can be thrown in there........... which will be more expensive.

Launched one out the side of a 4G63 block. The GSX was tuned for 1/4 mile in the summer not subzero rally car driving.

Im impressed.

Only story I can add was that I snapped all 8 rods and bent 7 pistons in My lightning. Multiple holes all throughout the block. Fun times.

Think the cause of failure was a bad hi-low fuel pump relay, tons of boost and nitrous.
Fun times.
