As was mentioned above, there is room to negoitate the ESP. Don't think for a second that that is the fixed cost.
Personally, I plan to extend my ESP when it expires. Truck just puked a second heater core after having it replaced just last year. I find a lot of relief in going "meh, $100, fix whats broke" when something breaks as opposed to taking it to the dealership and panicking about the outcome.
