I'm tuned. Mine currently does it, 26k miles. hope to get mine into the dealer this month.

I have not tried it w/o my tune.

Mine was too when it was doing it. Tune from SVC. I took the tune off and it hasn’t done it since.

Problem is that this problem is tune independent.

Ford needs an TSB or recall. I smell class action once these go out of warranty.

Maybe...I haven’t had the issue since taking my tune off. I put the tune back on and it started doing it again.

Did you get it fixed?

Yeah my dealer was really good about it. Was in the shop for about 3 weeks though and after that was finished my valve covers were leaking so I had to have it down for another week. Ended up trading it in.

My 2018 Raptor is currently getting an oil and filter change then going over to service for this exact issue that's been recurring ~4 months. It physically pains me to listen to it on cold start-up. She's about to hit 15,000 miles. Everything is stock minus a Roush intake.

You have bad cam phasers. My wife's 2018 Lariat had it and it just got fixed. Sounded just like yours

Why did they change the oil and filter if the engine is going to be torn down?

You say it like it was already pre-determined. I thought it might have been an issue behind the turbo wastegate. It was due for a change and it's not like I have to pay for another full-synthetic change if it comes to that; it's on them. And if they don't drop the engine/partial disassembly it still needed the change before any more miles are put on it. But it's not been diagnosed yet so I'm standing by. Maybe at your dealership you can walk in and tell them exactly what to do and how to repair your truck under warranty but for the rest of us it's not that simple.
