Eibach Pro-lift springs installed with pics and comments

I hope I did not come off too negative. I absolutely love this truck. I traded in a 2015 f150 which was a great truck. I leveled it and put on bigger tires. It looked really good.

The Raptor has a different purpose. I liked the low and wide look as it is purposeful. I try to only do modifications that add to performance and not for looks etc. The suspension on the Raptor was so plush it really caught me off guard. Normally I would probably not like it but on the Raptor it felt right. It felt like it was really soft to allow the truck to react more to the terrain while off-road like a Baja truck which is what it is designed to be. A lot of people say it is too soft and the Icon is better. I only know enough to be dangerous but wonder why Ford would put such soft suspension on the their flagship truck. It could not be about cost as they put on the very expensive live fox shocks etc. it would not cost more to have stiffer springs so it leads me to believe that it was specifically designed to be softer.

It is still softer than my 2015 F150 and not uncomfortable at all but I wonder if I hurt its performance. I also feel a little guilty for raising the height.

The reason I went with the Icon leafs .... I ordered 325/60 R20 grapplers and needed to raise the front to fit them. I wanted to use springs over collers as it should ride better this way. You are right that I would have been perfectly level but I wanted to have a little rake. I like the look of a little rake and often have my quad or motorcycle in it and would not want to be nose high and having my headlight blinding people at night. I also read that it rode so much better and liked the idea of getting rid of the block on the stock springs.

We will see if they loosen up a bit. I think I may feel better about the added height once I get the new wheels and tires on to fill some of the gap.
How many miles since the install? I’ve heard it takes a bit to break in the springs front and rear.

I currently have 50 miles on it so yea it was just my first impression. Hopefully it settles in a bit

You’re not being negetive, you just like it really soft, I couldn’t stand how soft it was. Everyone is different.

My inpatient behind could not wait for the Icon leafs so I went ahead and put in the Eibachs.

Before:
Front: 39.5
Rear: 41.3/4
After
Front: 42
Rear: 41.5

I hope they settle some. I ended up getting the full 2.5 lift as advertised. To the naked eye it looks perfectly leveled but when i push gas hard you feel a bit of the nose pulling up.
Adding the icons at this point is a must for me. I really like the look but .5-1 inch add in the back would improve it IMO. For now, I am a tat happier than before but now I feel like I started a project and did not completed it correctly. (I guess that is the feeling of owning a Raptor!! You always want something more so I better get used to it).

Driving the beast feels the same but when going over bumps at high speeds it is not as smooth as the stock springs. I assume because this is a much higher spring rate? Once it compresses and I passed the bump I can feel the decompression pushing hard back down which causes a "clunk" noise. I need to head out offloading to test it out and see if that is a problem. If it is, I guess this is a cheap way of lifting the front (for looks) but the way to go would be getting the Fox 3.0.

The spring doesn’t cause any kind of “clunk” sound. You probably don’t have the lower shock bolt torqued tight enough ... it’s 400 ft lbs

Compare the icons to the Deaver +3 .... I prefer the Deavers.

Also don’t count on the Front springs settling much at all.

The Deavers are a tall stack with more thin leafs. I think the icons have more of a chance of sagging over time. If all you want is 1” there’s no need to get the icons with an add a leaf.

When paired with a set of Icons in the rear, would you rather run RPG 2.25" collar or a set of Eibachs in a '19?

I made the decision a few months ago to go with collars(uninstalled, but have them in hand), but that was before everyone embraced the Eibachs. Every day, it seems like more people are recommending new springs instead of using collars. Why the sudden shift away from collars?

No shift .. springs have always been better than collars. There weren’t good springs available until the Geisers and now the new Eibach.

The 2.25 collars will lift your truck more than the Eibachs.
 
Top
